Shane
If you post on the map forum, Mapman will normally get back to you within a day or so and point you in the right direction. I have one of the originals too, what PC/OS are you running it on and did you manage to get it to run with a usb to 232 lead?

I havent even installed the ecu yet, nor did i realise there was an ecu forum I will be running mapcal on my mac using wine to run the .exe file. Then i will be using a usb serial convertor. Guest Roger NE
So, out of interest, is this just to fault-find from the ECU? Or can you actually adjust the stock settings?

Guest Roger NE
Oh right . . . I knew the Mk3 ECU couldn't be re-programmed . . . wondered if the Mk4 one was different . . . obviously not At the risk of hi-jacking your thread . . . but on the subject of ECUs . . . The Mk3 ones are really bullet proof . . . they practically never go wrong EXCEPT - I gather the ones fitted to the JZA70 cars with the 1JZ engines suffer from faulty capacitors, and therefore go wrong quite a lot Are the Mk4 ECUs pretty reliable? stevie_b
From my several years on here, I've never heard of a single fault being traced to a broken stock ECU, so yes pretty bullet proof. Sounds like the capacitor plague got to the JZA70 ones.
scott87
I have only ever heard of stock ecu failures with sw20 mr2s. OK, click on the 1st link in your original post and the third tab down on the left will take you to the forums, Map ecu man is really good at providing support for the whole range and responds very quickly. I had a GE ecu die on me, the fuel pump side of things died during a really bad, rushed jump start session and I suspect loose battery terms on my car saw it off. I spent quite a bit of time and money trying to get to the bottom of it until I found a replacement ecu.
