Guest Chieflongshin
HI all I was wondering if you may be able to help me with a little advice please. I have a mk2 aristo which i have been going through the process of applying bPu mods too. Currently I have on the car: full exhaust, decat (no restrictor ring), induction kit, plugs. A week or so back i added an mbc, plumbed it all in. Now the silly part of me has no boost gauge in the car currently but I knew that if it hit a bar it would cut fuel. I took the car out the other night and it was as you know like stabbing a rat when the second turbo came in. However in my enthusiasm I held it in second gear on a roundabout, heard an odd noise which i thought was a backfire and then pottered home. Thats the background - I am an idiot and got caught up in the boost. Anyhow I've spent the last week or so trying to locate the issue and in a maze of black hoses , tight spaces and rainy days i'm struggling to find the issue. So this is what is happening in the car. I initially thought turbo one but I am still getting the dump valve venting at low revs which suggests there is still some pressure in the system. However it does almost feel like an NA car up until 4k and then it will boost hard although not as hard as before the aforementioned noises on my jaunt. I have checked every visible hose I can on top of the block but am aware when the car is static that the holes are nigh on invisible. I have also checked all MBC plumbing and there are no leaks or popped pipes I can see. I was just curious if anyone else had had a similar thing. If I've popped a turbo its a good enough reason to sorn and single it but Ideally if I can get away with a repair in the interim then thats good also. If there is anything I have missed apologies but I hope there is enough detail here to get the experts advice. I've hit the MkIV forum search and here but I know the problems can be unique also. Thank you.
bignum
Its more than likely a boost leak, you need to check more hoses especially the ones going to the intercooler then under the car back up to the inlet, also you really need a boost gauge if you`re going to start fiddling. Guest Chieflongshin
Cheers bignum for help. Thinking I shouldn't have mentioned aristo on here lol. Like turning up to the evo register with a scooby. Tumbleweeds :-/ Thought I'd put a cheeky post here as well as clubaristo :-)
