LOGIE
1, How do I remove the pilot bearing from the rear of the crank? 2, Im removing it so as to fit a torque converter so do I need to replace the pilot bearing with anything else?? Im thinking the "nipple" like thing on the face of the torque converter just sits in the recess where the pilot bearing used to be? Am I right? Thanks
David P
Find a drift that's a good fit in the hole, pack hole with grease, fit drift then whack it with a big hammer and the grease will push it out. Leave hole empty for torque convertor.

Chris Wilson
Blind pilot bearing remover on a slide hammer is the correct way. Sometimes the middle of the bearing will separate from the rest though, then you are in a bit of trouble. Salvageable with patience and care, but a PITA. Hydraulically compressing grease with a well fitting round bar may displace the oil seals in the bearing instead of the bearing itself, but can work if you are lucky. SteveC
I used a Rawl bolt in conjunction with a slide hammer and it came out fairly easily.
