LOGIE
Im trying to marry up the torque converter to the crank on an engine that was originally a manual but the torque converter is hitting what seems to be some sort of roller bearing on the crank..? Im assuming I need to remove the bearing?? If so do I need to remove the rear crank housing and seal? Thanks
Swampy442
Thats the pilot bearing, you shouldnt need to remove the seal unless you have to heat the crank up.

I thought as the engine was originally manual id have to remove the bearing??
Rich.2211
You will have to remove the pilot bearing yes. They make specific tools for pulling pilot bearings. There are other methods such as packing behind the pilot bearing with grease and then using a tight fitting extension through the center of the bearing, giving it a wack and pushing it out that way (the grease has nowhere to go so pushes the bearing out). The recommended way it to use a proper bearing puller.
