Dnk
The speaker grills are looking tired so i shall sand blast them and then im thinking of spraying with the plasti dip stuff. I'm not sure if it'll fill up the fine mesh too much though ? Anyone used this on bare metal ?
Dnk
Speaker grills are done, rear door cards are off awaiting G101 treatment, i also used it to help get this off the dash that was seriously stuck to it. Gave the engine bay a bit of a clean up to get my agreed value photo as well Edited April 29, 2015 by Dnk (see edit history)
Dnk
Cleaned up the scuttle panel air vents and re fitted them with new filter mesh, doing the front grill and sorting the bonnet out next. The rear door cards i'll attack next week, i can finish all the vinyl once its clean now as the Poorboys natural look Interior dressing arrived yesterday One set back i have to strip the rear doors as the steel window frames are rotting inside the door. I can get a new offside from Land Rover but £200 + vat not sure how i'm going to fix the nearside unless i can find a good second hand one ! Dnk
Stripped the rear doors down and both frames are borderline, after a bit of searching i've found new replacements for both sides and got both for what one would of cost from Land Rover, they were only a 30 minute drive away so got them yesterday The new window seals and support pieces arrived from LR as well Edited May 14, 2015 by Dnk (see edit history)
Chris Wilson
I thought this was nearly done, didn't know the doors were made of lace Just get some moulds made and go carbon..... It will be twice as heavy once you get rid of all the holes it had!
Dnk
It's far from finished Chris I found this rot when i took the rear door cards off to clean them so it had to be dealt with. I have to do something with the wood trim as that's faded but i'm still not to sure what to do with that, i quite fancy doing it in Piano Black, also have to paint both sides and possibly the roof if i want it 100% right. Dnk
Assumption is the mother of all fuck ups. I know i should of checked before so why didn't i, i'm putting it down to age lol Edited as i've been given wrongly labelled bolts UNF are the door frame threads not BSF, the threads that hold the door handle brackets and other bits on are 6 mm just to add to the fun Edited June 1, 2015 by Dnk (see edit history)
Chris Wilson
BSF??? Surely not? Are there other BSF threads used elsewhere on the car?
Dnk
No there not BSF and are actually UNF I've been given BSF bolts wrongly and was told they were UNF All sorted now and frames are going in today And breath lol
Chris Wilson
That sounds more like, BSF is ancient stuff. But nothing BL or whatever they were called back then did would surpise me Coming along well, any other horrors likely to be found?

But nothing BL or whatever they were called back then did would surpise me Coming along well, any other horrors likely to be found? I have to find somewhere to paint it now but i'm leaving that till next year. I just have to re assemble the door cards and fit them, find a new head unit and sort the wood trim pieces out. No more horrors hiding as far as i can see. Bonnet catch and safety hook are now fitted
