Guest suprageek
Was driving my supra this morn and it died, (tt bpu auto 1993) it's trying to fire up but refuses to start, tried the engine diagnostics and I am getting a steady flashing light, listened to the fuel pump and it sounds like its priming when I try and start the engine, checked spark plugs all ok, swapped around the Eli relays and they all seem to work, anyone any ideas please on what the problem maybe? Cheers Edited October 6, 2013 by suprageek (see edit history)

Abz
Did you manage to get an error code? Take it battery is good? Or you driven it recently? You got plenty of fuel in the tank?

Guest suprageek
Yea no error code just a steady flashing light, I was driving it this morn and it just died and refused to restart, where is the map sensor James? Thanks
TheTurtleshead
Intake manifold… It has a little vacuum hose into the bottom of it and a 3 pin plug going into it. Give it a try. long shot but it won't run without it.
Guest suprageek
Would that not show up on the error code James?
Swampy442
Get a paper clip, and in the diagnostic port connect to terminals marked B+ and Fp, try to start it. If it works its the fuel pump ECU. Be careful because the clip gets quite hot!
Guest suprageek
Thanks for that swampy I'll let you know how I get on tomorrow
Guest suprageek
Not that, there's no spark from the plugs though so this must be the problem, just have to find out why now
Guest suprageek
Any ideas why no spark?
Gpro
Ignition amplifier? Maybe
marc_p
Would that not show up on the error code James? No, MAP sensors won't usually log an error code. Anyway, if there is no spark, as someone else said, check the ignition amplifier, had it happen to mine a couple of years ago where it hadn't been plugged back in properly and lost connection. Guest suprageek
Hi my diagnostics says this has failed, is this the igniter or something else? Thanks
Ian C
I thought I recognised this, you've already got one in tech that's active and spammed it with another one that I've closed. Stick to one active thread
Ian C
Also, what diagnostics told you that, seeing as that phrase isn't mentioned anywhere in the diagnostics code table? - - - Updated - - - Threads merged

Guest suprageek
Right I got an igniter and it's still not running, I'm thinking it maybe the crank position sensor but there is no error code showing when I bridge the terminals on the engine diagnostics port just a steady flashing light, could it maybe still be this even with no error code showing? It is backfiring instead of starting up, I've read previous threads and it could be a number of things ecu, bad earth, coil packs, plugs, cam pos sensors, crank pos sensors, has anyone any ideas I'm lost!
