Davesoarer
Hello I am currently in the middle of building a 3.4 2JZ-GTE. I hope to be running 750bhp when it is up and running, I am wondering if a standard oil pump will be man enough for the job? If anyone could let me know if it is or not I would appreciate it Many thanks Dave
listy
As far as I'm aware, most big power builds stick with the stock oil pump.
Davesoarer
cheers, I will stick with the stock one.

marc_p
That's a fairly low power output for a 3.4, how come you didn't stick with stock? I'm guessing its stroked and not bored?
j_jza80
That's a fairly low power output for a 3.4, how come you didn't stick with stock? I'm guessing its stroked and not bored? IIRC all 3.4L 2JZs are stroked, 3.2L is the most i've ever seen from a bore.
Kaan W
That's a fairly low power output for a 3.4, how come you didn't stick with stock? I'm guessing its stroked and not bored? Stroked on a stock size bore makes it a 3.3 unless it had a 96mm stroke. I'm guessing it's more torque than top end power he's going for. Luxluc
You can bore up to 87mm piston fitting. This gives an additional 70cc, and thus 3066cc. Anything above needs stroker.
Luxluc
Imo, a mid range turbo (67mm) plus 3.4 engine is a perfect street setup. Some yanks run serious beasts on that engine setup in combination with E85.
j.oe
Stock genuine Toyota oil pump, preferably a new one. Always remember: Those parts are up to 20 years worn out. I rised the oil pressure a little bit at mine. Simply add a M6 washer to the pressure regulating spring, that adds 0.5 to 1 bar tho the oil pressure. You find it by opening the hexagonal screw at the upper side. Be aware of the pre loaded spring, when you unbolt !

I thought it was another 100cc? then the extra 300cc was made by the different crank, creating an increase in stroke length and therefore capacity
Davesoarer
I will try and get pics up soon. It is bored as well as the HKS stroker kit. The only reason I will be running low bhp is because I only have the R154 box and I have been told they won't take alot of power, I am going to save for the V160 or V161 the hope to go for 1000bhp
Luxluc
700+ bhp through the R154 box. You have big **** :d Good luck though
Davesoarer
Im guessing the R154 won't take that much bhp. What sort of bhp can they take without breaking?
Luxluc
I haven't read a lot on them in combination with big engine setups, but I think they stated on SF that 550-600 rwhp is the upper limit. Check on www.supraforums.com to be sure. Luc

Chris Wilson
Im guessing the R154 won't take that much bhp. What sort of bhp can they take without breaking? Proabably about 3/5ths of what a new one can, and WAY WAY below what a 3.4 stroker could hopefully put through it unless you fit Citroen 2CV back wheels and tyres. Totally unsuitable transmission. thetrashcanman
Think the r154's are only good for around 650bhp or something?
James
If building a 3.4 stroker with 750bhp (be it single or big twins) then I don't see the point in using anything other than a V160/V161 or a built autobox (Boost Logic or suchlike) if you want any sort of longevity. Chris Wilson
Strictly speaking Getrag would be horrified at what torque people put through the 6 speed Supra `box. All these big torque creations really need something beyond even the V160, torque handling wise. It's amazing some of them hang on as well as they seem to. Probably a lack of true traction. This is true. If I recall, the Getrag V160/V161 boxes are rated to about 375lbft or so. I wonder if anyone has used a T56 in a Supra before? They are rated a bit higher again. Chris Wilson
People with big budgets would be better looking at 5 speed boxes with much wider gear centres and wide gear tooth widths. To be honest these heady torque figures are really the realm of things like uprated Viper V10 transmissions, and the more exotic end of Hewland's in line race transmissions. The Hewlands are small, and should fit in a stock tunnel, but are strictly race only. Tractive were bringing out a high torque 5 speeder, not sure where that's at right now. If it were of the quality of my "normal" 5 speed Tractive sequential I would recommend it wholeheartedly.
