hodge
Hi Guys I'm looking for some sort of cap to block off a coolant pipe. I need to block off a coolant pipe and wondered if there was anything avaliable like a silicon/rubber cap that can be slid over and clamped down with a jubilee. Cheers John

TBDevelopments
i've used those before for boost and coolant lines and work well. Just make sure you use a good quality clip. Tim
hodge
Something like that, but those are single layer silicon, I wouldn't trust them holding the pressure of a coolant pump at 8000rpm.
TheTurtleshead
HKS do them in various sizes... Contact a dealer like Lee

I've never seen the muti-ply ones. Only other option I can think of is a bit of hose and a metal bung.
TBDevelopments
i bet the HKS ones are just a single layer of rubber. How big is the holes your trying to block? Tim
Andrew K
I brought some of these recently, you can get samco silicone blanking caps from Demon Tweeks or a place called Merlin Motorsport.

Dnk
A bolt shoved in just looks like a bodge to me, if its a permanent thing then get a st/st or aluminium top hat made. Looks much more profesional. Something like this

Chris Wilson
Hodge wants to put a cap OVER a hard pipe, not bung up the end of a flexible pipe. What I don't understand is where this pressure @ 8000 RPM comes from? Is it the water pump? Unless totally blocking the flow from the pump it will generate virtually no pressure, just flow around the system. Coolant system PRESSURE comes from heat expansion of the coolant, the rad cap will lift at about 1 bar...

Sorry i just read coolant pipe and didn't think of the hard pipes so yes obviously what i said won't work in a metal pipe.

mellonman
Sorry i just read coolant pipe and didn't think of the hard pipes so yes obviously what i said won't work in a metal pipe. but it does work , you just put that in the silicon pipe that you attach to the hard pipe thus blocking it, but what i think hodge is after is something like the dust cover that goes over the brake nipple just abit more robust to go over the water line nipple if thats whats in your links sorry as i cant click on links at work

Tsia
There's a hose I blocked previously on my MR2 and due to it being out of sight, used a screw similar to the interior ones. Worked a treat, just didn't look 'professional'
Slutters
Where's the water feed your trying to block?
Slutters
I blocked the one in my cylinder head by removing the stainless pipe, as its just epoxyed in, Then drilling and tapping the hole. I then used thread lock and a copper washer
