Guest steburke
hi all new to this forum i have a 95 supra tt jdm and there is a rattle coming from the gearbox. the output shaft coming out of the gearbox has a bit of play in it. any ideas what part could be gone in the gearbox? thanks Steve
Nic
Need more details, under what conditions does it rattle? out of gear, in a certain gear, with the clutch pressed down, etc?
Guest steburke
Rattles while driving in gear coming on and off the throttle

SteveC
Could be the dual mass flywheel. Mine made a bit of a rattling sound until I replaced it with a new one.
Camry5Sgte
Mine does too, and I already installed a new factory flywheel which did not solve the noise you describe.
Chris Bailey
Gearbox mount?
Abz
Chances are it is the dual mass flywheel. You can hear it on some cars when switching the engine off it rattles. Mine was one of the very few I saw which didn't do this for a while! Now it does it every now & then ever so slightly.
supra steveo
Mine does it too , feels like if I were to grab hold of the prop I could rock it back and forwards with ease before meeting any resistance
Guest steburke
the flywheel was changed for a lightweight one. had it looked at by a toyota dealership he said the was a small bit of play in the propshaft
Supra-Mad
Mine sounds more metallic. Like a clutch fork rattle, or maybe a mounting
SteveC
the flywheel was changed for a lightweight one... That'll quite possibly be the reason it sounds like the gearbox is rattling then. Lightened flywheels generally equal more noise, apparently...

Geo
Replace the Clutch, and everything that comes with it? Problem solved, had this in my white supra. its the fingers in the clutch that grab the plate that are stuff, hence the rattle.
