Guest supraiq
Is anyone aware of an independent valuation assessor who specialises if not at the very least understanding the difference between a UK spec Supra and and a jap one? I have a UK spec, manual with some idiot hit me from behind causing me to go through a post, resulting in it being written off. Wasn't able to track this person down as he sped off and a so called "independent assessor" has valued my car at £2000!!! Obviously contesting. So I'm in need of a specialist assessor. Thanks! Dnk
Worth way more than that if you broke it, how many miles had it done. You'd get £2-£3k for the gearbox and diff alone. Look on Paul Brown Cars for other UK specs advertised at over £10k, print them off and give to your ins company. I sold my UK auto this year for £10k PBC's website doesn't appear to show they're cars on it but if you search on http://www.pistonheads,com in the classifieds section it will bring up several of they're adverts and some other UK specs Edited September 22, 2013 by Dnk (see edit history)
Graham1984
If you have a manual 6speed uk spec the guy that assessed your car is a complete berk.

Benjy
He must have forgotten the 1 infront of the 2000. Have a look in the classified section on here mate. Any cars similar to yours, print them off and show your insurance company that you couldn't replace your car in its condition for whatever the cheapest UK Supra you can find is listed at. Even a jap spec RZ TT Auto's worth £5k to £6k!!
Abz
You'll find insurance companies always value the car too low. You'll need to prove the value by using car adverts. Sorry to hear about the accident, no CCTV where it took place?
fastcar
If you have a manual 6speed uk spec the guy that assessed your car is a complete berk. I agree watch out for insurance companies felle if they can make a few quid they will. I have know doubt they know how much your car is worth and it won't be £2000. You wouldn't even get a decent NA for that let alone a TT UK spec or J spec. Tel them your not accepting that under any circumstances
Graham1984
The gearbox is worth that alone ffs. Like Dnk said this guy is shrewd and if you would like to accept my the offer then go ahead Post up some pictures of how it looked/looks now. Benjy
The gearbox is worth that alone ffs. This. I sold the 6 speed conversion from my NA6 for over £3500!! Oh, and the best adverts to show your insurance company will be those of Paul Brown Cars. And get Jurgen-JM Imports to give you a valuation. If anyone will know what it's worth, it's him! I was going to say Paul Browns also! What did you have it down as a value on your insurance? Id argue the toss with that as well, as it effects your premium. abtin90
As mentioned try and find as many car ad's with a similar spec to your as possible and give them to your insurance company. The one below is a good example to use. http://bit.ly/1aVUKlQ

Sorry to hear about the accident, no CCTV where it took place? Initially they wanted to pay 6K and I laughed and said no way, can you imagine what I was like after this so called independent assessor gave his valuation!? Nope, I got completely screwed over on this one Had it for almost 8 years, alas time to move on as I doubt I'll ever be finding another one of the same spec etc as this was hard enough for me to source all those years ago.. Thanks mate

So why insure a car to any value if they dont value it against current cars for sale of same spec/con/miles etc, so u can REPLACE it! stupid. In my old age id send emails to watchdog, and that bald fella who does the rip off things Surely we pay insurance to help us replace the car like for like if something happens to our current cars. w**kers!! Benjy
The point of insurance to to ensure that you can replace the car that's been taken/damaged. Is the car completely irrepairable? Take them to the FSA and ask why you were paying a premium to insure your pride and joy to cover the eventuality that someone stuffed into it! Its a rare black 6 speed manual. 2K is most definately a joke.
