girth45
Hi does anybody know the pin number on the ECU, for the map signal. Or where I can get the info, have searched on here but can't find info for vvti. Fitting a hks fcd.
Shane
I seem to recall another thread about this some time ago that suggested the VVTI is different and is difficult to apply a conventional electronic FCD and that Paul Wiffen said he uses the turbosmart bleed type of FCD. I seem to recall I looked at that bit of kit and it was bassically a ball and spring valve that went in line with the pipe to the map sensor and released to atmosphere at the all critical moment prior to fuel cut. Sounded horrible to me, but, I have not played with a vvti and PW said it worked fine.

Chris Wilson
FCD's work exactly the same on the VVTi as on a none VVTi 2JZ-GTE. Just the pin outs are different, you still just split the signal wire from the map sensor and have a switched ignition feed and a chassis ground. No more or less effective on a VVTi or a none VVTi. If I get back home at a sensible time I'll try and find the VVTi ECU pinout diagram that lurks on here somewhere. Before you came here were confused about this subject. Having listened to your peers you are still confused. But now on a higher level
Shane
I was basing my previous post on this thread http://mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?257868-FCD-Fuel-cut-defender-review&highlight=fuel+cut+turbosmart where another vvti user had experienced problems with a normal fcd. But some wiring info here: http://mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?273315-Fitting-FCD-into-a-VVti&highlight=fcd+fitting+vvti
Chris Wilson
My post wasn't directed at you Shane Someone had that quote in a post on another forum and I have been wanting to use it all week All 2JZ-GTE Supra engines I have looked at the wiring loom on have used yellow / black striped wire as the MAP sensor signal wire, so if there are more than one a simple check it's the right one is to unplug the ECU and map sensor, extend one of the two multimeter leads on your test meter, and check for continuity between the ECU plug pin with the yellow / black wire you think is correct and the pin on the three wire plug to the MAP sensor with the same colour coded wire. It's not a bad belt and braces check in any case, even if you're sure you have the right wire.
Kirk
The MAP signal wire on the VVTi is Pin 9 on block B75. http://www.2jzgarage.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/Supra_2JZGTE_VVTi_ECU_Pinouts.pdf I fitted one last week and all is well. You want to set the FCD to channel 9.
