baz
phoned the garage, and they seam to think that if any of the coils are defective, the engine managment light would come on????? is this correct???? cheers baz
Kopite
don't think the engine management light would come on, not sure though? could check them by swappin with a local friendly supra owner and seeing if your packs work on his car and vice versa? GeordieSteve
Take one of the coil packs off and crank it for a second. If there's no engine managment light, find yourself another garage
penguin
way i checked mine was in total darkness, rev the engine slightly... the missfire should show up as a "spark"on the offending coilpack
The Hornet
lol @ garage, if that was true when I had 2 dodgy coil packs and no lights came on my dash, I guess the dash bulb was faulty too Use a different garage matey
RobAce
i think i had same problem, i used wrong plugs, i used a 1.1 gap but i needed a 0.8 gap
Guest Terry S
Coil packs wont show a fault, and they could spark just fine until you are on boost. Some will break down at high boost but be perfectly fine and low boost.
supRo
Mate, I had HKS Iridiums. The ones I had were Not the correct gapping. Check the gap, if it's too wide then I don't think you can/should adjust the gapping on Iridium plugs. I used to have the same sympthoms
The Hornet
Yup just like mine did I checked all my hoses for leaks about 10 times, changed the plugs to denso ik24 iridiums and other bits and bobs. Then took it to a garage who found 2 faulty coil packs and sorted new ones out for me. It might not be the coil packs, but can save a lot of time messing about by asking a local Supra owner to donate his for an hour etc etc
