Stevo
Hey, I’m looking for some advice where the brake system is concerned. The car is with the bodyshop at the minute for a respray (change of colour) and I’d ideally like the brake booster drum and also the brake pipes running along the bulkhead to be sprayed in the new body colour - and obviously the bulkhead/firewall behind them! Can the pipes and the brake master cylinder be detached from the bulkhead and booster drum without bleeding the whole system, if the pipes remain attached to the master cylinder? Cheers
markssupra
Not sure you have enough slack in the brake lines to do that, The booster drum has quite a long plunger protruding through into the cabin that attaches to the brake pedal, so not sure if you could just move the master cylinder away enough to get the booster out without disconnecting the brake lines. Stevo
Was hoping to just move the master brake cylinder out the way and leave the booster on there to be sprayed.

Cheers It can't be done, there's not enough movement on the lines. They need disconnecting and drained.

hodge
You need to factor in the weather for this engine going back in Steve. It's starting to get cold now and I've no fancy lying on a freezing cold drive putting an engine in the middle of November.
Stevo
Totally agree with you mate. If things don't speed up and/or the weather takes a turn for the worse then I'll just put everything on hold until the Spring and the car can sit on the drive with a SORN.
