The Hornet
Ok I have now found out there ARE two different types of rear brake pads for the J Spec Supra. The most popular type are Toyota code: 04466-14040 The type I have which appear to be for the 1993-1994 J Spec are Toyota code: 04466-30030 I have attached some pictures of both sets for future reference for people. Hope this helps others out in the future. Soonto_HAS_soop
The small square versions are the UK version aren't they? For use on the 2 pot rears. Someone will be along shortly to be sure.

The Hornet
I dont know, but just thought would be good idea to have pictures with order codes and sizes up here for future reference
Soonto_HAS_soop
I dont know, but just thought would be good idea to have pictures with order codes and sizes up here for future reference No problem with that, but the UK specs are probably the rarer of the 2 (with lots of J-specs in the UK) not the most popular, and the UK spec were an option on J-specs throughout the life of the vehilce, IIRC. So therefore the part number you have for the J-specs are for 1993-2002 (I'm sure that the VVTis can also come with smaller brakes). Other than that, you are correct
The Hornet
- Yeah according to a parts code sheet I got, all the other J Spec's apart from my year (no explanation to why) use the 04466-14040 pads where as mine uses these 30030 pads. The UK spec rear pads are different again to my knowledge.
Chris Wilson
There are ONLY two types of rear pad shapes. J-Spec and UK / USA spec. You obviously have the UK (bigger, twin piston) rear calipers on your car. Somne J-Specs had them as an option.
Gaz Walker
You obviously have the UK (bigger, twin piston) rear calipers on your car. Chris, Grant has J-spec pads. The problem is the EPC says this was a J-spec pad and it wasn't - it was a UK - which is also a different part number. Gaz.
The Hornet
Nah Chris, Gaz is correct, They are J spec ones just different to the normal J Spec ones its seems. If you check out the dimensions I posted ^^ that should conclude it..
colsoop
I said this in the other post 14040 is for the larger calipers. you can tell this by the fact that it gives you the dimensions of the tyres in the descripttion in the EPC.(Due to you needing larger wheels to fit the bigger calipers)

The Hornet
You did indeed post me the Wheel dimension and order codes Colsoop, much appreciated. But if people have (like me) an import with 18" wheels aready on it, you have no idea what the original size wheels where etc etc. Which made it very difficult to establish which type was needed. Also when you look at the pictures of the pads, most would describe the 30030 pads as being the larger of the too sets. How ever is you work out the surface area of the 14040 pads they are actually the larger ones. All in all, now there are some pictures with absolute accurate dimensions of the pads plus order codes. Should help people in the same situation in the future without confusion.
colsoop
Sorry forgot the smilies in my post so it probably came off a bit snappy I agree a useful set of pictures there and if someone is unsure then that would definitely help them decide Maybe a mod could add that to the brake FAQ if there is one?
