1JZGTE
I am getting a bit tired of always having to jack the car up and put it on axle stands when doing oil changes for example and other small jobs, so I looked into DIY ramps. Going by reviews, the most common variety (as shown below), isn't very wide and construction doesn't look super robust. http://www.machinemart.co.uk/images/library/product/huge/05/051711025.jpg Now, I found these (below), at £60 they are twice the price of the above, but they are 30cm wide and will suit cars that sit low (17cm and higher will clear ok according to the description). http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Pair-of-Extra-Wide-Heavy-Duty-6-Tonne-Ramps-for-Car-SUV-Van-Garage-Workshop-/261261828237?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts&hash=item3cd46b208d I guess my question is what do you guys use (some low cars with wide rims on this forum) and is it better than what I found above? listy
17cm isn't very low at all. Mine sits no more than 10cm off the ground.
reeceu
same as above, i have to jack mine up if i want to keep it on ramps like the above lol, you might as well get some real good axle stands so you can have it any height you want for different tasks. Ian C
The construction of those is fine, it's easily tough enough. The wheels don't fit on though, wide tyres hang off one of the edges. That's not really a problem either though, as long as it's not long term storage. The biggest issue is the approach angle - I use metre-long bits of 2*4 wood to extend the ramps out to a shallower angle, that works fine. 1JZGTE
I got a ruler out to measure, 10cm - now that is low! I did actually think of maybe making my own from wood, a bit like in this thread here: http://www.crossfireforum.org/forum/tsbs-how-articles/32202-how-make-your-own-low-profile-car-ramps-2.html I also came across this, quite pricey but looks fun http://www.showroomevent.co.uk/rentramp/video.htm
heckler
you want to take a look at these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Sports-car-long-low-profile-low-angle-incline-lifting-Ramps-2000Kg-a-pair-/251174359693?pt=UK_Lifting_Moving_Equipment&hash=item3a7b28928d I used to have them on my lowered supra with a top secret bumper, it was close but I could drive straight up, no jacking no nothing. Ian C
I wish the price was as low as the ramps
stevie_b
As said, the angle of attack of those Machine Mart ramps looks way too steep for a supra, even an unmodified one. The supra's front wheels sit some way back from the nose of the bonnet, and this is what can scupper them. I would use some planks of wood of decreasing length, screwed together to form a ramp. Lightweight, cheap and sturdy.
Scooter
I cut and screwed a load of used scaffold boards together, pretty heavy but very sturdy.
ashbuster
you want to take a look at these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Sports-car-long-low-profile-low-angle-incline-lifting-Ramps-2000Kg-a-pair-/251174359693?pt=UK_Lifting_Moving_Equipment&hash=item3a7b28928d I used to have them on my lowered supra with a top secret bumper, it was close but I could drive straight up, no jacking no nothing. i have these, thanks to heckler i do have to remove my front bumper to drive up them but i have a ridox front with the big splitter and i highly recommend these, get a nice height to get underneath
SupraDan24
I was going to buy those low profile ramps ages ago but didn't have the space to keep them. I was also worried the Supe would still be too low to get on them but after reading Hecklers comment I may have to have a punt at them when I get in my new place, as I have a TS bumper and mine isn't lowered all that much. Josh
I bought some of the ones Peter Richards made. Nice and easy. The only issue I find with using ramps, is that you can't get to the underneath of the car from the side as the ramp is in the way. I've only really used mine to put the cat back in for the MOT, but have opted for removing the whole exhaust from 2nd cat back, as it's easier that way for me as the bolts are pretty inaccessible for my tools to get onto
1JZGTE
Thanks for the input guys. I will contact Peter Richards to see what it costs to make a set up, else I will plumb for the ones linked to eBay. Aren't the eBay ones what JamieP has, or are they from Peter Richards? 1JZGTE
Thanks, Josh. Just received a message from PR, he said he isn't making anymore, so I guess I will have to buy the eBay one.

Al Massey
These, if you have a few quid http://www.cjautosheywood.co.uk/hyramp.shtml I've seen them cheaper on eBay I think. Look great, but still a big step for the supra
