Guest Andy808
Hi all. I have been trying to find out about the front brake pads on a 1988 Supra for a friend. The discs are 296 mm but the pads are 144 mm wide but all I can find is 125 mm wide pads. Anyone know what the hell is going on?
Chris Wilson
You mean it's a MKIII Supra? N/a or turbo? UK or import?
Guest Andy808
You mean it's a MKIII Supra? N/a or turbo? UK or import? I think it's a MKIII and it's N/A and I think it's an import.
Chris Wilson
Sounds like it has none stock calipers and maybe discs. No MkIII had 140mm long pads.
Guest Roger NE
A 1988 Supra is what we call a Pre-Facelift Mk3 model However, ALL Mk3 Supras (whether N/A or Turbo, UK USA or Japanese, Pre-Facelift or Facelift)) have the same brake Discs and Calipers (although a few pre-facelift Jap market cars did not have ABS, but 99.9% do) The front pads are 113m long by 50mm wide (actual pad area - the overall length to the end of the lugs is 125mm) Unlike the Mk4, very few Mk3s in this country are imports, as Toyota sold both N/A and Turbo versions throughout the production run in the UK. (the imports tend to be the late models using a 1JZ-GTE engine, which was only ever sold in Japan) Edited September 6, 2013 by Roger NE (see edit history)
