Guest davew90
Hi folks, sorry if this has been asked before. Needing to change the clutch on my n/a, how easy of a task is this? Also is there a guide I can follow? Cheers
Rich.2211
As far as clutch changes go it's as straight forward as they get on the Supra. Plenty of people manage it on axle stands on there drive but best bet and to save your back is to hire a 2 post ramp for the day if it's not to expensive. Quick tip is to remove the fan shroud, slacken off the two engine mounts and tilt the engine backwards to allow you access to the top bell housing bolts. David P
Quick tip is to remove the fan shroud, slacken off the two engine mounts and tilt the engine backwards to allow you access to the top bell housing bolts. Undo one end of the top hose to prevent damaging radiator.
Homer
It can be done on axle stands, but I wouldn't recommend it and won't be doing it again! Make sure you have the correct clutch alignment tool, I stuffed up on the first attempt as I had a 6spd one... If you have a two poster, some decent length extension bars and a wobble joint it's not too bad a job provided you have a mate or two to help (or better yet a gearbox jack)
Pulley
Just pulled my w58 out, changed flywheel/clutch and then fitted v160 On axle stands Couple of extensions and wobble joints, decent alignment tools, tilt the engine back I did it on my own (never again) With a post lift and gearbox jack it would be easy as peas
