Guest zrs6v4
My name is Zach and Im new to the supra world. Ive owned a ton of cars and recently stumbled across a great deal on one 4 days ago locally. This is a funny story so please read. The car is a 95 NA supra 5-speed that was gte swapped in 2011. The owner is a great guy and almost to honest but is one of those guys who had a chunk of money, took it to a local shop, and said do it. He bought the car in 2008 stock for $17500 with 170,000 miles on it and drove it a couple years. In 2011 at 177,000 miles spent $20,000 (i saw invoice and know the guy who built it). It seems as though they did everything right heres the list: Gte swap Head Crower cams, springs, and retainers Apexi head gasket New valve seals Arp studs Block- stock but i assume inspected as it the engine was dissassembled before swap Maintenance New plugs Coil clips Hks T-belt Oem oil pump Oem water pump Oem oil pans Oem throttle cable/bracket Oil seals Thermostat Hoses Fluids Performance Borg warner 76mm turbo Manifold Dual precision wastegates Hks bov Injectors (i dont know what size nor does owner) Fuel pump (i wish oem supra) walbro Custom front mount intercooler Apexi exhaust Koyo radiator (flexalite fans) Hks rad cap Samco hoses ACT clutch Apexi neo piggy back (1 possible weak point) Aem a/f, oil, and boost gauges Fuel cut defensor Made 476 whp after build (car only has 3,000 miles since all of this was done) It has w58 transmission and stock na diff, so there are 2 more weak points Body is flawless, 98 headlights, tailights, and TT wheels So, here is the interesting part. We had a price worked out and yesterday we were going to finalize. He drove 45 mins to my house and about 8 miles away lost oil pressure. he called me on the way and told me it was making a noise from under car. I noticed oil pressure when he pulled up and idled read 0. I immediately shut it off. I looked through basics such as oil level, leaks from lines and seals, checked wiring on oil pressure gauge, etc. my genuis immediately thought and still think the worst (noise+ low oil pressure = block damage). We let it cool down and did a couple of short starts but i never heard any noise from block or head. Currently the car is in my driveway bc it would be foolish to try to drive. The guy said he would lower the already great price according to repair costs (this could be to my favor). My dilemma is that i dont know the engine or have the time currently to diagnose. On top of that its not my car to comfortably take apart. There are two local shops that know supras but are backed up at least a week. The other option is to take it to a toyota dealer to diagnose.
