supra_ufo
Does anyone know which cable I can splice into engine side to get electrical power after the ignition is switched on please? Pic would be great Edited September 5, 2013 by supra_ufo (see edit history)
Chris Wilson
How much current are you wanting to draw?
supra_ufo
I have no idea Chris I have one of these and stuck on how and where to splice into...
Chris Wilson
I'd splice into the loom from the ignition switch with an extender cable and an in-line fuse of about 10 amps max near the splice.
supra_ufo
I have a in line fuse and a fuse, I thought it would be easier to tap into the engine side :-(
Kev.O
What about taking an ignition source from the black/orange wire that feeds the ignitors? If you used this source to trigger a slave relay you could take the power for the drl direct from the main fuse board. Would this effect the ignitors in anyway? No because you are only drawing a few mA from the ignitor feed to energise the relay coil, but you still need to feed the relay contacts with a current source that won't be overloaded by the ignition gizmo. I still think a feed from the multi Ampere switch contacts is better, but either would work OK.
Kev.O
How about taking the source from the headlight fuse at the fusebox as its not that far from the ignitors on the passenger side strut? Enough people have fitted HID lights which I'm sure draw more current than these lights will.
supra_ufo
I still haven't wired these in :-( However I do know that the indicators only come on once the ignition is on so I could tap into those before the relay inside the cabin (otherwise they would flash on and off??) I can take the same route as I did with the boost gauge. Ill update this thread once I have done the job.
Kev.O
There is a switched ignition feed at the stereo if that helps make it easier for you?
Benjy
Check to see if the cigar lighter works with the ignition off. If not, use that. Or do what Chris said. That man's right about 700% of the time.
