DRL ( Day Time Running Lights) splicing into a positive on ignition

What about taking an ignition source from the black/orange wire that feeds the ignitors? If you used this source to trigger a slave relay you could take the power for the drl direct from the main fuse board.

 

Would this effect the ignitors in anyway?

 

erm thats too technical for me lol... ill check some diagrams

No because you are only drawing a few mA from the ignitor feed to energise the relay coil, but you still need to feed the relay contacts with a current source that won't be overloaded by the ignition gizmo. I still think a feed from the multi Ampere switch contacts is better, but either would work OK.

I still haven't wired these in :-(

However I do know that the indicators only come on once the ignition is on so I could tap into those before the relay inside the cabin (otherwise they would flash on and off??) I can take the same route as I did with the boost gauge. Ill update this thread once I have done the job.
