Guest Pipnchick
There is a certain amount of info in the forum going back a few years but I thought that this trick may be of use. I'm a polymer technologist by day so in theory I should know what I'm doing and it's tried and tested, dry for 10 years now! The night before you go on holiday for a week, remove the aerotop. Wipe a thick covering of Vaseline (other petroleum jellies are available!) over all of the rubber seals on and around the roof and then head for the airport. A week later you will find that the Vaseline has been absorbed by the rubber, swelling it back to it's original condition. I did this ten years ago to my Supe which was leaking badly on both sides, especially in the car wash. I still have the car and there's not been so much as drip since. The same treatment also improved the condition of the rear hatch rubber to the point where it stopped rattling. I hope you find this tip useful. Havard
That is useful. Will putting Vaseline on anything else make it swell up?
Dazzi
My passenger door keeps leaking for some reason. Cannot see how the water is getting in but the seatbelt is wet after heavy rain. I put some Vaseline on just now and couldn't believe how fast it absorbed it! Now when I close the door it sounds different, like its sealing tighter if you know what I mean. Will be interesting to see if it actually works! Certainly gives dry tired looking rubber a 'wet' look Thanks for the tip
Guest Pipnchick
I'm sure It depends on who's applying it for you!
