supra_ufo
Just as I was preparing my car up for BPU/cleaning for Monday. I noticed a coolant leak from under the car.. Thanks to Iky we took a load of pipes off and worked out that it was coming from the pipes picture below... They have been corroded heavily and there is a hole under the pipe. Does anyone know if these pipes come as part of a new heater matrix unit? I wont be able to make Monday in my car :-(
ScottC
Can't you just bypass the heater matrix, it's going to be hot on monday so you won't need it? Boom! back in the game:D Edited August 24, 2013 by ScottC (see edit history)

ScottC
Just join the two hoses going to the matrix together. Air con has nothing to do with the matrix.
supra_ufo
I'm still coming either in mine or Ikys Back to the original question are those two pipes part of the matrix?

I had my HEATER matrix fail before and made a pipe to bypass that lives in my boot, all you have to do is join the rubber pipes together that go in the end of them pipes sticking out No they are not part ofthe heater matrix they just join to it, All you will loose is the heat from the heater
supra_ufo
in the long run how do I replace those pipes as its that with the hole... I can live without the heater as Monday looks nice
mellonman
I cant remeber if you can get to them from the engine bay or not but if you cant, them best/easiest would be get a silicon pipe that can cover the hole depending on position
Dnk
I'm still coming either in mine or Ikys Back to the original question are those two pipes part of the matrix? Yes. Just put a loop connecting the inlet and outlet matrix feed pipes together till you replace the matrix. Page AC-24 Page AC-51 Have good diagrams of the heater matrix showing the pipes etcAC.pdf

Homer
To replace those pipes, I'm pretty certain the heater matrix has to come out, like dude said. It's a fair bit of work, but it's not as bad as it appears. I did mine in an afternoon, took about 5 hours.
dude
Yeah so a day and a half with beer stops !!!! Its a horrible job and a lot depends on the state of the wiring behind the dash, ie stereo install etc
supra_ufo
This does the trick Its something I bought from B&Q 15MM flexible copper pipe... Taken the car for a harsh drive and it seems to be good... Should be there in mine tomorrow, but I haven't had the time to install my refurbed head lights or polish the car :-/
