bluedrag
ok guys ive just finished my NA-T conversion and have taken it for its first drive, it runs fine until the turbo spools up then it packs a sad now im thinking either i can get a piggy back ecu for it or possibly if i can find one maybe a factory 2jzgte ecu? only aiming to run like 9psi max any suggestions? cheers
HadeS
Piggyback or standalone. Don't bother with stock 2JZ GTE ecu.
Noz
Piggyback or standalone. Don't bother with stock 2JZ GTE ecu. Why not? It's been tried and tested in the US. I think it's worth a try. I've never seen a reason not to at least try it
HadeS
You would need to adjust fuel map anyway so why to do things twice?
Ian C
I've never seen a reason not to at least try it I have: It's been tried and tested in the US. Seriously, fitting a GTE ECU is an unbelievably bad bodge. MAP vs MAF, ignition system, different injector sizes, and then it expects a lower comp ratio and a sequential system. Why oh why would you do that only to need to fit a piggyback anyway
Tricky-Ricky
LOL! they will try anything in the US, doesn't mean its a good thing.
bluedrag
ok guys cheers for the input im looking at going the link g4 way as no one in NZ seems to play with greedy... =(
Noz
Don't get me wrong I know the systems aren't as close together as would be preferred, but the fact someone had one running has to be a better bodge than using a stock ECU. It's the lesser of the two evils. A mapped ecu is what makes sense ive never recommended anything else
bluedrag
ok heres just a crazy idea for a cheap fix, i have no idea if it will work or not but what if u just replaced the factory 1bar map sensor with say a 2.5bar map and still ran the factory ge ecu? cus in theory the only thing that will change is the range of the map pressure? maybe but any input on this idea or if someone has tried it before would be helpful cheers
Noz
The problem you have is the ECU not the sensor. I've never read anywhere that 8psi is good on stock ecu. The cheapest fix you should consider is a blue emanage.

So basically you are telling the ecu you are running 1 bar when you are running 2.5 bar. So you have a nice 1bar na ignition map which I would think is anywhere between about 24 and 28 degrees. Not so good for your hi compression engine running a Cadburys worth of boost. Just get yourself a e-manage blue with optional 3 bar map sensor. More than capable of fulfilling your requirements (or a Link G3 LEM stand alone- circa £350 if you can find one). Lyndon.
