Unplugged vsv's?!

I haven't had the car long and was having a look around the engine bay at the weekend and noticed that a couple of electrical plugs around the turbos have been unplugged and covered over. From looking in the technical guides I'm pretty sure these are the wastegate VSV and the EGBV VSV. (pictures below)

The car seems to run ok, feels like the first turbo is working and then there's some lag and it starts pulling again about 4000rpm, it feels slightly slower than I was expecting, having said that I've never owned a TT before. It's an 95 auto.

The car used to have a boost controller but this was removed before I brought it, both cats are in but it has a cat back exhaust and an aftermarket air filter. There was also a book for TOMS engine management but it's all in Japanese.

I've also found this box plugged in under the drivers seat (pictures attached) but I'm not sure what this is?

My questions are:

1) Why would those two VSV's be disconnected and covered over?

2) Is it safe/should I just plug them back in?

3) Any ideas what the box is under the seat?

Any help would be much appreciated!

i cant see the full picture at work , but mak e sure you plumb all the vacuum pipes back corrctly and make a note of where they are now so you can put it back if it has ill effects which i doubt , have a look the FaQ and lookk up the sequencail thread will help you massively

Ok then I'll plug it back in and see what happens.

Any idea what the box could be, I'm assuming it's not standard because the floor mat in the back wont fit in because of it. Should I unplug that before I plug in the VSV's?

the box under the seat is for remote locking with the original supra key. regards chris

Slightly embarrassing, I've followed the wiring through and found the boost controller hidden under the carpet with the power not plugged in. After plugging that back in the car felt miles quicker and boosted up to 1 bar, but my joy was short lived. The hose connecting the intercooler to the throttle body came off when I let off. I put this back on and tightened it up a lot and took it for another go, was fine for a few miles and then the same thing happened. Also, before blowing the hose off it was making a fluttering dump valve type nose even though it has the standard bov.

Am I right in thinking this is pressure going back through the turbos? Do I need to replace the bov?
