In theory if you don't have a number plate with GB on you are supposed to have a GB sticker, but in practise you're not going to get any problem if you don't.

Again in theory yes, but I drove all round Europe with mine in the glove compartment because I couldn't figure out where to stick them on Supra headlights, so it's not going to cause you a problem.

No, your car is registered here, so that's fine.

It isn't endorsable, and they have to actually stop you - if you get caught by a speed camera (not that there are many) you're fine. If you get caught you will get an on the spot fine (anything up to 500 or 1000 Euros), and they can confiscate your license. It will get posted back to you in the UK, but you won't be able to drive in France which would be a problem of course!

No, those kind of regs are all different in different European contries and are assumed to be the responsibility of the country you come from.

 

You don't have to carry a warning triangle, medical kit or fire extinguisher in France.

 

The one thing in France you must NOT have is any form of speed camera detector. They are illegal, and if the police think you have a radar detector they will rip your car apart to get at it and destroy it on the spot, plus fine you 500 Euros. In theory the GPS ones are OK because there are no French databases, but if they think it has radar detection as well they'll destroy it and let you argue about it later. So leave them at home!

Nice one with the reply paul. Do you know what the penalties are for what speed? Im not planning on going fast or getting caught. But it maybe useful for people to keep an amount in there glove box. Obviously you have said between 500 and 1000....are you able to be anymore specific!

Argh no! Mistaken for Paul, what a nightmare... They fine you what they feel like at the time pretty much. Just don't go too mad and you'll be fine. You'd have to be going some to get a 500 Euro fine.

I have updated the first page

 

Eurotunnel have imposed an extra £4.00 per car fare for travelling back before 20.00 hrs on the Sunday and we have to split the return between 18:33 and 19:06 trains (I think I can absorb this into the extras fund)

 

We could all meet at Maidstone after - and those with kids etc get to go home earlier etc

 

Each car will get a reference number that they will need to use the automated check-in procedure at the front gates - hence the extra time I have left to get from Clacketts etc

 

 

I will produce a fact sheet etc in a weeks time with relevant info

Been over to Frogland many times without GB sticker no probs, never been pulled even though Gendarmes looking close.

 

Worth being aware of problems penalties.

 

If cars or drivers get stranded I can arrange for off street relatively secure parking not far from Fort Mahon if desperate can manage a bit of accomodation.
