antno
Hello. Is it possible to piggy back of the stock intake air temp sensor to run a gauge inside the car? As long as the gauge is compatible voltage wise. Cheers antno
Tricky-Ricky
No as its resistance based, so any other added resistance in the form of another gauge will screw up the readings for both, besides you would need a gauge that's calibrated to the sensor, far better to just get another temps gauge and sensor, then you can fit it where you like to monitor air temps. antno
Any ideas where to buy a good quality air temp gauge and sender from? I'm not too keen on the defi stuff. I would like vdo but can't seem to find an air temp one. Cheers anthony
Tricky-Ricky
Plenty on ebay fella, http://www.ebay.co.uk/bhp/air-temperature-gauge they will be adequate unless you want to get serious, in which case you will need thermocouples and a reader, but they are not cheap. antno
Ok pal cheers. I take it standalone ecu's like motec and syvecs will be able to read thermo couples? I'll wait till i upgrade. I just wanted a before and after of ducting my intercooler and making a air box. Ta antno
Tricky-Ricky
I thought you just wanted an independent air temp gauge? stand alone ECUs either use there own IATs or use the std one, I am not sure if they are able to read the output of a thermocouple though.
