Patrick_Devlin
Guys, Ive posted something on the For Sale, Wanted section. I need a window motor. Mines just packed up. It's chewed the cable up and now the window is stuck down. Can I just replace the cable? Can I get the window up? Has anyone got one lying around? Are they unique to the Supra (can I fit another one?) Help would be gratefully appreciated.
Alex
I had this very recently too....must be the colour they must have put duff ones in! You haven't specified Drivers or passengers side. Brian Duff has a passenger one for sale. I had the drivers one off his scrapper! EDIT - you need the whole mechanism not just the motor and cable. Matt Harwood
Patrick, was your window making any strange noises before it died? I'm just wondering if it's something that could be avoided if it can be cleaned/lubricated.
Patrick_Devlin
I dont think so Matt. I'm not sure if the cable jumped the pulley or not. I havent checked that. Maybe the pulley broke. Regardless, I still need the new motor, and now I'll have to check the pulley
Alex
A single strand of wire frayed on mine at the joining block on the mechanism....over a no. of months it tore up the pulley...the noise was like a crackling sound. Should have taken a look earlier but I didn't. There isn't much room inside the motor/pulley area and so if the cable goes, inside that area, then it could jam it straight away... MONKEYmark
my drivers side cable was making noises then stopped working, stripped it down and cable had snapped thought you might be able to buy new cable but its an all in one unit cost me £70 dont know if it was including or excluding i asked them how much to fit it, they wanted £92 as it was stripped i fitted it myself easy job to do and i am crap just take your time doing it have fun
Patrick_Devlin
All fixed now, Thanks to Nathan at TDi for sorting me out a 2nd hand part. 24 hour delivery and a couple of hours to fit it and I 've got a working window. The top pulley had broken and the cable had tangled in the motor as a result. Bit of a bitch to remove the old one cos the window was stuck down. Got the old one if anyone wants to recondition it? MONKEYmark
how much was it then? is an all in one unit so cant see it been of use to anyone. its a pretty easy job when you see how it works. took my glass out when i did mine and gave it a good clean. Guest Martin F
Not sure if this is the same part as you guys ended up buying, but may help others who come across this thread in future. http://www.supraforums.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=110390
Patrick_Devlin
I got the whole fixture for £130. It included the motor, guide rail and window mount; the whole shooting match. I havent taken the motor apart yet, but may do. The cable is frayed and I guess it could be mashed up inside the casing. The top runner (plastic) has broken also - the initial problem I think. Alex
The motor will be fine if a little tired! Its the big pulley which will have lots of sharpe debris from the cable littering the inside. If you do open up the big pulley take care...I was picking fine bits of wire out of my fingers for the rest of the day.

Pat £130 was that new? when i did mine new part was £70about remember because toyota wanted more to fit it than the part was worth its the cable in the round plastic plug that pulls both ways and has a slider bar . i thought it might have been more knowing toyota

This is what Toyota wanted to charge me £250 for... It was the pulley on the left hand side behind the window bracket that broke.
