Jamesy
Hi guys My wife came home last night saying none of her indicators/hazards are working i've taken the car out, which is a 52 plate BMW X5, and the following things arent working: Indicators Hazard lights Fog lights Main headlights Full beam The sidelights are on as usual and things like the horn and brake lights are working. I have had all the relevant fuses checked and theyre all fine. Also plugged into a general diagnostic which showed no faults. Any help?? - she cant drive her car now as it is and its prety stranded for next week with our kids! Was mentioned about a light module, but im not familar with it, or if it can cause this, and how it can be resolved. Really do appreciate all help you can give Cheers

Jamesy
think it just needs a replacement light module mate...
Dnk
I just checked with a bmw techie mate and its more than likely the lighting module, it could just need a re boot or a new unit, if you buy brand new unit it will need to be coded to your car. Jamesy
Thank you. I am hoping to maybe get the part from a bmw breakers or eurocarparts. If i can get it supplied and fitted away from bmw and just use them for coding that'd be ideal. So it could just need a reboot? Any idea how thats done mate? I believe the module is under and behind glovebox...
Dnk
If you buy second hand it could just be plug and play and not need coding. My mate has the computer that he just plugs in and can do all sorts on it inc re booting the module. Are there any independant bmw guys by you. my mate is up here in B'ham so a bit far away. Think he charges about £20 to pop cars on to check for faults etc etc
Jamesy
thanks for your advice, its been checked on a generic diagnostic machine which has thrown up the light module error so far mate

Jamesy
thanks a lot guys - spotted them also, however the part number BMW quote doesnt match the part number on those modules, even though they're both 2002 3.0d sports!! taking it to a bmw specialist next week, maybe a reboot or a dodgy connection before having to change the module itself Edited August 14, 2013 by Jamesy (see edit history)
Benjy
Ring him... 01233 713447 If he hasn't got one I'll be amazed. Edited August 14, 2013 by Benjy (see edit history)
mwilkinson
If you post the part number I will see if I can find one for you, just incase the reboot/connection option is a no go.
Jamesy
thansk guys BMW say the part number is 61356961141 ....although havent seen the actual unit from our car yet to confirm that, and the 2 on ebay that were supposedly from the same car (2002 plate 3.0d sport) both had a different part number. I think there was a change with the xenons at some stage which makes the control module different...
