mintedm
Hello everyone not been on here in a while, recently got the supra back on the road after a couple of years of it sitting in a garage, now was driving somewhere and stopped at lights and the temp gauge suddenly went up got a wee bit along the road and into car park and switched it off, unknown to me the radiator had been leaking slowly. So let it cool right down stuck some water in it and got it home, now im worried incase its done some serious damage car seemed to run fine going home and dash gauge never went up above halfway. Rummy
Presuming the gauge was working normally, you should be fine if it never went much past mid way.

Hmmm. If your coolant temp gauge is accurate and it went up that high then the coolant will have been boiling its nads off. In fact it will boil at anyting much above 120. You need to fix the leak, refill it with coolant and then check that it runs OK after that.

mintedm
Right the overheating thing has surfaced again, after thinking the radiator was leaking which it wasnt, changed the thermostat and radiator cap and its still doing it , could this be a blocked radiator?pipes all seem to be ok
Dnk
Take the bottom hose off the rad, put a bucket under it to catch the coolant, then try flushing it through with a garden hose. Does your heater blow nice HOT air on max hot setting ?
