MichaelG
Evenin' all ! Recently bought a slimline PS2 out of pure boredom, and am trying to hook it up to use online. The thing is i have a laptop, connected via a Wireless connection to my broadband router, and i am unsure how to hook up the PS2 to the laptop so that i can use it online, or even if it can be done Has anyone else done this before and able to offer any info ? Cheers in advance Michael
Bobbeh
You need a network card adapter for the PS2, and a cat5 (crossover cable) for the link. make sure you router supports PS2 connections too. Mine didnt.
Pete
I tried to do this myself using a DLink wireless adapter. Never did get it working. You need to enable internet connection sharing on your notebook. Goto networking, right click your wireless connection and choose to enable Internet Connection sharing (last tab). This will then enable your PC to hand out IP addresses to other devices via your LAN port on the laptop. Then you need and RJ45 crossover cable between the laptop and the PS2. Also you may need to disable the firewall if you can't figure out what ports your PS2 needs to be open. In short, it's not as simple as you'd like! Pete
this is wrong!! lol ill write a review of how to do it later No it's not!? It's a little vague, but it'll work without getting into messy bridging scenarios.
Pete
See any of these links that all say the same thing. http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=ps2+internet+connection+sharing&sourceid=mozilla-search&start=0&start=0&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official
Pete
Or use bridging - http://www.homenethelp.com/web/howto/windows-xp-bridge-setup.asp
Whitesupraboy2
ok well what i did and this worked. leave the wireless connection as it is. Plug the crossover cable into the Network port. Make sure the LAN port is set to DHCP. and that was it but i then got a router and just plug it in that. GT4 online was really good

Pete
But you NEED a router thats compatible with PS2 connections. have you checked that yours is Pete? I wasn't using a router. Just NAT translation via WinXP. I didn't try too hard and I think most of the trouble was the DLink wireless gaming adapter didn't want to talk to my PCI wireless card.
