rob_sri Posted August 17, 2013 Author Share Posted August 17, 2013 (edited) yeah i just pulled the top hose off a bit of coolant dropped out.. started it up and filmed this.. didnt exactly seem as good as it should be but thought i'd check ahhh damn! cheers though might just have to bite the bullet and buy a new pump anyway its probably never been replaced.. going to check the stat now too and make sure it opens.. rob_sri Posted August 17, 2013 Author Share Posted August 17, 2013 understandable! really appreciate the offer im skint till payday really on the 27th so wont be doing anything with it till then anyway! cant wait to see the NA-T beastie! although its not going to be good for my bank balance...!! keep us updated ! once I've sorted this, some decent new suspension, probably some new suspension arms etc, bigger brakes, (basically supporting fixes) few body bits.. bit of rust on the boot needs to go and a new exhaust system i'll be buying a second hand engine + box and saving for NA-T Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

These cars have there little issues but there simple to work on and usually relatively inexpensive to fix. Such a rewarding car to drive that they are worth the odd tinker here and there. Compared to other cars I see of the same age I would put all my money on the Supra being the reliable car that would get me from A to B without any worries. Mine should be done in the next couple of weeks so I'll take you for a go at the next meet we both attend, or Dynodaze maybe Good call on the NA-T route, again any help/advice I can give then just drop me a PM. I will definitely take you up on that mate! let me know I might try and organise another track day at curborough soon haha yeah definitely more rewarding and will be a good learning thing too! should also be a certain reliability factor too if you have done everything with new/decent parts ! I had another quick go with this earlier.. got some PTFE and wedged coolant in a large funnel in the rad cap.. stuck it in the rad.. left it idling for about 10 mins revving it occasionally just as a last chance.. temp rose quite quickly to halfway where it stayed actually may have been a few bubbles.. top rad pipe was hot.. as were the rear pipes bottom warm/cold.. put the cap on and gave it some punishment to see if it decided to get any hotter.. when I pulled up everything seemed about even around all the pipes and the bottom pipe seemed hot too (would this suggest new thermostat is okay?).. temps bang on mid way but still no heat through the heaters lukewarm/cold at best.. doesnt seem to be consistent.. surely with the water pump gone or lack of circulation it would overheat and boil over.. anything else I can check heater wise? might have the dash out again tomorrow and just check when I changed my cd player over that I didnt pull anything out!
