You're not so bloody hot with the dictionary either :) When you get over 50 you will start to think "Why bother, what's another 5 minutes on the journey". You'll be the bane of younger drivers yourself then :)

Playing devils advocate here, but for every slow old duffer there are just as many inexperienced, impatient youngsters and middle aged drivers out there who just want to get past everybody regardless of safety.

There's a few old duffers who drive the same.

I was in no hurry a few days ago so sauntered along at the speed limit much

to an older guys disgust behind me who was gesturing shouting etc for me

to get a move on, as we passed a row of shops, doctors surgery and infants

school he decides to overtake very almost having a head on collision and narrowly

missing my truck, at the next set of lights he's giving me the wanker sign and

shouting all sorts of crap, this is with his wife in the car with him.

Luckily the lights changed and he went on his way and i turned right, total

moron with zero thought for anyone else

You think the 40mph brigade are bad. I've had to experience north Devons 30mph army!

Now I am no angel of course. I do speed quite a lot but generally stick to 30mph in the 30mph zones. Not 30mph on the 60mph roads!!

It's beyond frustrating. I overtook one (in a 60mph zone) and he had the audacity to start flashing me!!!

I don't get frustrated with those who travel at the speed limit. But those that insist of travelling 20 - 30 mph slower than the limit need to have their licenses taken off them. It's just dangerous! Especially when there are no factors stopping them travelling safely at 50 - 60mph in the appropriate zones!

When I used to commute to Barnstaple on the A361 this was a regular occurrence. There's one stretch where it's about 3 miles long and you can see for miles. I was approaching, at 60, an older bloke who was going about 45, so indicated, overtook, moved back in and then continued on at 60 (no oncoming traffic). He then accelerated up behind me flashing like an epileptic searchlight and turning puce with rage before dropping back to 45.

With people like that I would genuinely like to get them to sit down and just find out what is going through their minds (and then shoot them :D).

This... These people are idiots, have no idea why they do it. If they don't want to be overtaken then speed up!

Fair enough doing the speed limit as that's what your supposed to do but 40 mph. It does my head in!

I must admit I've started to notice this too. My drive home (usually about 8:30pm when there's very little traffic) takes me along a couple of roads where almost every night I find people doing 50 in a 60 and 20 in a 30. I don't insist that everyone drives balls-to-the-wall all the time, but when you are trying to get home to spend a couple of hours having dinner and watching TV before having to go to bed to be up at 05:30 the next day it does start to feel like they are robbing you of your free time by holding you up. :(

Doesn't wind me up half as much as people who see a set of traffic lights on red on the horizon and slow down to a crawl simply so they don't have to actually come to a stop, though. Why the hell do they do that? I've even had people do it when there was an exit sliproad that I needed to take between them and the lights.

I think it feels worse than it really is.

If you do the maths on say a nice easy to work out 60 mile journey.

At 50 mph it will take you 1 hr 12 minutes, at 60 mph will take you

obviously 1 hr so its not really the end of the world and not worth

getting so upset about :)

While I agree with that the actual issue isn't so much with those who drive slowly - it's more their 'Road Captain: None shall pass' mentality that is difficult to accept.

Slow = safe according to government and police propaganda, remember. There is no other aspect to road safety

What like the lady in a silver corsa who nearly took me out a couple of days ago... she was luckily going slow enough for me to anchor my brakes in time!!

She was in the left lane on a roundabout & decided she didn't want that exit, instead of getting into the lane into the right & continuing around what did she do? She just cut straight across the roundabout exit!! She was about 1 metre in front to the left of me when I noticed she wasn't looking in the direction the lanes go!! I slammed the brakes & pressed the horn but maybe my Supra had the invisible cloak on at the time. No notice what so ever!!

The standard of driving these days HAS MASSIVELY dropped!!
