Bpu on mines ecu

Recommended Posts

After a bit of advice please guys.

I've almost acquired all the parts I need to run bpu on my j spec tt. However, whilst running cables for my amp, I found that the stock ecu has been replaced with a mines one, which was quite a nice find!

I'm familiar with them in the world of mr2's, and am right in thinking I won't need a fuel cut defencer as the fuel cut is effectively disabled/raised by the ecu?

Also, does anyone have any experience with how good the maps are on these versus a stock ecu?

You won't need an fcd on the mines mate that's correct. It's a locked map as far as I'm aware and makes the car more responsive etc and also in some cases raises the rev limit. I have one in my car but haven't noticed a raised rev limit. Nice find though.

Thanks tony, that's confirmed my thoughts :)

On the mr2 turbo, they:

Disable/raise fuel cut

Raise rev limit

More aggressive timing and fuelling

Raised boost fuelling maps

Allow for exhaust, induction, ic etc

I thought they'd do much the same on the supras - happy days!

More or less the same but you wouldn't necessarily need a mines for raised boost, fuelling and intercoller as the stock ecu is up for that at bpu level. The stock ecu just needs a reboot to relearn that the cats are removed etc. a few hard pulls after bpu and it should be fine. If you click bpu (should be highlighted in blue) it will open a link to reveal all mate.

Just a word of caution, although most MiNES have the generic features, they can be mapped to a customers specific needs, its always worth emailing MiNES with the serial number and see whats been done.

Other than that, with more aggressive timing its should be better than normal BPU :)

Ive heard that before too, but I dont think I've ever actually heard of anyone who heard back after contacting them :(

Much the same goes for the sard analyse, and blitz access ecus.

I have no evidence here, but the chap I bought the car off said mine was dynoed at 362bhp with just a 2nd decat, exhaust and induction kit. How true that is, I don't know, and I don't even think he was aware of the ecu!

I'm not after chasing numbers, been there and been broken hearted many times, but after bpu I will probably chuck it on the rollers to see how it performs, and also to see if the mines does in fact make a difference :)

I emailed them the other month about mine, they replied the next day with all the information what's been done to it. You need to send them an actuall picture of the ecu and the serial number.

That's encouraging, I think I'll try it :)
