Brake pad carriers

Are JSpec brake pad carriers "sided" (i.e. specific to the left and right sides of the car)? Not that I can tell but thought I'd make sure.

On my fronts, one is stamped as L and one as R, but looking at the marks left by the piston heads, it looks like the L one was fitted to the driver's side and vice versa!

Left and right in automotive terms ALWAYS refers to an aerial view of the car. Imagine a photo of the top of the car on a piece of A4 in portrait fashion, the front of the car at the top. Left is always the left of the paper, right is always the right of the paper. Referencing from a drivers seat is meaningless as some cars are LHD, some RHD and the lucky owners of McLarens first road car are in total limbo :)
