Tein coil over install. Help!!!

Ok so I bought some Tein Super Street CoilOvers second hand only done 3k. As they was recently on a a supra I thought set up would already be done it had been but far to low for my car running 17"

I adjusted each corner keeping the spring rate on the rear both the same to the height I wanted and the same on the front got the height I wanted and kept both spring rate the same.

MOT when the guys had the car over the pit they jacked the front a level jack lifting both front wheels at the same rate one tyre had more clearance than the other like half an inch,

The rear was then jacked up much the same an Inch difference.

Not happy got home lifted the front, out with the spirit level car was sitting level I then had the wheels off and put a length of wood under the car falling under each bottom arm making sure this was also level I then got out the tape measure measuring floor (wood) to bottom arm adjusting until I have the same measerment.

This bit Baffles me because on the drivers side the to collars under the spring are near close to the bottom lowest setting passenger side to get the same height I have had to whinde the collars up near on 2" The back of the car I have had to do much the same.

Wheels on car back on the ground drove it for it to settle, I measured from ground to top of the wheel arch and its perfect. The car is sitting just how i want it.

So how come my spring rates are all different??????? I'm lost

If they are anything like the BC Coilovers, iirc isnt there adjustment for height and spring rate? So maybe there is a mix match of height and spring rates, which make it appear level on the ground, but once lifted, one drops more?

Try raising the front, wind everything out as far as it goes, then do the same each side, until it sits the way you want. Therefore keeping the height adjustment and spring rates equal. It's a PITA but its how I had to do mine, as it was wonky when I bought it.

From what I can make out the spring rate is adjusted when raising the height. I did try what you are suggesting first time round jacking up the front wind them right out then screwing back up at the same rate until happy with the height. Once the car was back on the ground there was a difference in height from left to right one side I could get two fingers between the top of the tyre and the arch the otherside three fingers??

Mine was like this too. I have replaced all the wishbones, the ARB and re-adjusted the suspension. Not got it all back together so not sure if it will still be the same or not.

I don't actually have an answer for your question, just thought I would chime in as mine is/was the same. No doubt there will be a concrete answer before I can check it out properly though :)

Yeah those definitely won't be the best coilovers for your situation. It's normal for there to be a bit of a difference from side to side but it shouldn't be as much as that. The strange thing for me, like yourself, is that the opposite corners (front and rear, is that right with you?) seem to have the same thing going on.

I tuned it out no bother with my Megan racing coilovers and then my HSDs. Worked a treat, alignment was done and the handling was solid. This is the great thing about adjustable height coilovers, you can get the ride heights absolutely spot on throughout without compromising on the spring rate.

One of the front wishbones on my car was absolutely toasted though, effectively welded onto the bolt that holds it in, so that was an absolute nightmare to remove. Now that everything is free, loose and fresh I'm wondering if it will make all the difference. I haven't gotten around to the rears yet, I'm going to concentrate on getting the car running first. I'm sure time will tell though :)
