Samsar
Morning all, I've just gone back to a stock set up from having an OBX manifold and decat system. I didn't have any Lambda sensors in before and now I have can anyone shed any light as to where the two on the manifold plug into? Thanks
thomo8568
There should be a plug for one under the throttle body and the other is under the dizzy. Will have look of I've got any photos where you can see them.
thomo8568
This is the one under the throttle body. It's the wire with a zip tie on. Don't have a photo of the other.
Samsar
So it's these two here? The plugs that are in them are connected to each other so I'm assuming they plugged them in together to bypass the system ?
thomo8568
Yes that's them. Not sure why they would have been wired together tho. As far as I know that's not going to do anything more than leaving them unplugged. Only time I've heared of them being wired together is when just running one lambda. Samsar
It is strange maybe they didn't want to get any dirt in them? Cheers for the info mate it was much appreciated
trebor69
What exactly happens when you fit an aftermarket manifold and run the N/A engine without Lambda sensors plugged in ? Does it run ok without damaging anything ?
thomo8568
Not sure why you would need to as think mast if not all can take at least 1 lambda. Think it would just run rich, the same as having a dead one fitted.
trebor69
I have a manifold on the way but it doesn't take the oem sensors it uses screw in ones, I was thinking about doing what I think you have done and have some fittings welded on to take the standard sensors (when I picked the front lip up I remember you saying something about them), or do I buy screw in ones ??? Did you have any fitting problems with your manifold using the standard gaskets as it looks like you have used a fair amount of exhaust paste between the manifold and your block
David P
Without an O2 sensor, it must have been running poorly? Running without Lambda sensor(s) causes over-fuelling and can cause bore-wash.
Nic
What exactly happens when you fit an aftermarket manifold and run the N/A engine without Lambda sensors plugged in ? Does it run ok without damaging anything ? The ECU will bring up error code 21 and default to a rich mixture, causing a loss of power and high fuel consumption. http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/attachment.php?attachmentid=13921&d=1112558346

I made a flange to take a screw in type, as there a lot cheaper I did have a lot of trouble fitting mine but it was second hand and I think it had been bent out of shape. I had to use two gaskets and grind some of the engine mount down to get it to sit flush. Had it on and off about 15 times before I got it to seal that's why there is paste everywhere. Ah I see, any idea how much the screw in ones are, reason I ask is that there is some fittings for sale on ebay which will take the stock ones and they are £18 ish for the pair, this one is also 2nd hand so I hope it fits easier than yours did

Think I got some good ones off web for about £20 each. May help to get an extra gasket, incase you need to fit two. Had to cut one of the studs down as well as it was hitting one of the tubes. Send me a PM if you need any help.
