ashbuster
i was just wondering if its alright to pull the engine with the tt downpipe still attached does it cause any issues or is it not in the way. i cant see it being an issue but its a real pain in the ass to do it while its on the car

Benjy
The back of the engine/gearbox needs to be pointing at the floor at about 45 degrees. So as long as it won't hinder that, or catch on anything on the way out, you should get away with it.
ashbuster
thought so bud. do you guys get someone to lye down underneath the car and pull down on the box as its coming out to make sure it doesnt hit? and tie the front bracket shorter so it lifts the front slightly first to get the angle? Benjy
I just make sure the car's high enough so that the back of the box clears the floor, hook it up so that the majority of the lift is at the front of the engine, drop the jack that supporting the box and lift away mate

ashbuster
hi dude jack the rear and have the front on axle stands? or lower the front when you jack the rear ?
dude
with the rear up the angle is less extreme that you need to get the engine/trans at, you also need a crane with pretty long reach. As long as you have everything undone theres prob not too much reason to have the front up as well, we always do it on a ramp but thats a luxury. ashbuster
ahh yes i see this is the crane i have dude http://www.sgs-engineering.com/garage-equipment/engine-cranes/ec2000-2-ton-folding-engine-crane
dude
The load leveller would be handy in this case, problem is the engine and trans are pretty heavy and with the crane on full reach it will struggle.

DOH! Too late. Yes, just pull out the P clip from the pin on the shifter linkage. No need to undo the nut otherwise the linkage will need adjusting. David P
Pull P pin on the gear selector adjusting mount and then disconnect the loom at the plugs and mounts, 4 nuts on prop and disconnect the fluid lines to cooler.
