Mace
I'm in the unusual position of needing the mileage altering on my uk spec supra as I had to buy a new Odometer. I need to add miles on as my car has 116,000 miles on it and the new odometer has 82,000 on the clock, there will be a mileage discrepancy on HPI if its not sorted by the next mot.. Anybody had it done? can any garage do this?
Guest creamsodauk
many bikes have clocks swapped out, just make a note of the new odo and the odo that came off so buyers can see. the mot wont care either they just make a note, if anything take the broken clock to the mot place and explain and they can make a note of it
Swampy442
As above, just record it and add the difference. Also, I really admire your honesty Seems everyone wants a 20 years old car with less than 100k on the clock, thats the easiest way to do it

If I was you I'd just keep the faulty clock, when you sell the car on you just explain this to the new owner & provide them the clock too, also note it down on the MOT paper. Mace
Just leave it 82K and voila, more expensive car..!! I think a few importers have thought of that, it makes me laugh when I see supras on ebay with 48,000 miles on them and the interiors so worn it looks like someone has taken an angle grinder to the steering wheel and seats I was going to say I havent got the original, but cheers Robert i appreciate that. Might as well fit the original clock then problem solved If you need my details again pm me Edited July 13, 2013 by Mace (see edit history)
Digsy
You can do it but its fiddly. I did mine for the same reasons as you - I got a second hand odo after a code 42 error and wanted the odometer to read the correct mileage. You need a signal generator and a 12V source to power up the odo module. You also have to hook up several of the pins. Unfortunately I can't remember the precise details right now but I could probably work it out if I looked att he wiring diagram again. sz aero supra
if you could remember this procedure it would save me a whole lot of bother
Guest Roger NE
Yes , the last few years' mileage is unfortunately recorded on the MOT Certificate these days . . But of course after a few years the PREVIOUS reading will disappear !
TBDevelopments
If its the display in the speedo (ie mechanical) its easy enough to do. I did mine when the kph to mph converter was fitted. Mainly because it displays a lower number but also gets around the mix of miles and kms. I'll admit I've not looked into the digital odometer as that appears a lot more complicated.
