mileage correction? easy to do?

I'm in the unusual position of needing the mileage altering on my uk spec supra as I had to buy a new Odometer. I need to add miles on as my car has 116,000 miles on it and the new odometer has 82,000 on the clock, there will be a mileage discrepancy on HPI if its not sorted by the next mot..

Anybody had it done? can any garage do this?

many bikes have clocks swapped out, just make a note of the new odo and the odo that came off so buyers can see. the mot wont care either they just make a note, if anything take the broken clock to the mot place and explain and they can make a note of it

As above, just record it and add the difference. Also, I really admire your honesty :) Seems everyone wants a 20 years old car with less than 100k on the clock, thats the easiest way to do it ;)

Haha but very true. :D

If I was you I'd just keep the faulty clock, when you sell the car on you just explain this to the new owner & provide them the clock too, also note it down on the MOT paper.

Just leave it 82K and voila, more expensive car..!!

I think a few importers have thought of that, it makes me laugh when I see supras on ebay with 48,000 miles on them and the interiors so worn it looks like someone has taken an angle grinder to the steering wheel and seats

I was going to say I havent got the original, but cheers Robert i appreciate that. Might as well fit the original clock then problem solved :) If you need my details again pm me

You can do it but its fiddly. I did mine for the same reasons as you - I got a second hand odo after a code 42 error and wanted the odometer to read the correct mileage. You need a signal generator and a 12V source to power up the odo module. You also have to hook up several of the pins. Unfortunately I can't remember the precise details right now but I could probably work it out if I looked att he wiring diagram again.

Yes , the last few years' mileage is unfortunately recorded on the MOT Certificate these days . .

But of course after a few years the PREVIOUS reading will disappear !
