supra steveo
Sorry can't help, but just for info the facelift or pre-facelift 6spd TT diffs are different. I believe I had a carbonetics 1.5 diff fitted and its a v-160 box fitted Sorry to read this mate!! Cheers Jon I would rather be feeling like I just had my arse handed to me by a civic lol looking on the bright side at least it never let go on the A1 on the way home
MattP
will no other type of diff suffice as a temporary fix?
supra steveo
Don't know what else would be ok , it would need to be ok to drive down to Suffolk (250 miles) if I can get a make do diff
MattP
Would an auto diff fit?
SPG
I reckon the diff will be a large case diff, which would require a drive shaft change on the left side, and a different prop to use the small cased LSD, if memory serves me correctly
supra steveo
Think I've found a uk spec large diff , what I think I am currently running is a 1.5 carbonetics diff and I am pritty sure it's a small casing Will I need the drive shafts to runn a uk spec big case ? nige-rz
Could you weld it up as a short term fix to get you the 250 miles you need to travel. It'll make the car ridiculously tail happy, but could get you out of trouble for a day or two.
supra steveo
Haha hmmmm might be good fun driving a drift car for 250 miles .............. I will give everyone good warning of when not to be on the A1 lol
supra steveo
Just checked this thread , does any one know if big case uk diff's are LSD's http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?241932-Do-all-supra-s-have-LSD&highlight=speed+diff
marc_p
With the engine running, does it feel like it's engaging all gears ok?
supra steveo
Yeah its going into gear ok I may take a video of it to show what a diff shouldn't sound like An gutted coz I thought I had bought a decent diff didn't expect it to go man down 7 months later
SPG
Large cased UK Spec Diffs are LSD. Drive shaft swap If you are running a small cased LSD, prop might need changing also.

supra steveo
Hey guys I got a massive fear it's the V-160 box that's gone how can I confirm if it the diff or the box that has gone ? It seems the slapping noise is coming from the back of the gear box
Homer
Hey guys I got a massive fear it's the V-160 box that's gone how can I confirm if it the diff or the box that has gone ? It seems the slapping noise is coming from the back of the gear box If it were me, I'd jack the rear of the car up and rotate one of the wheels with the prop located, then unlocked, you should be able to hear better where it's coming from. Have a really good look at the propshaft too as one of the cushions may have failed in that too. Also check your driveshafts. Very rare to go if it's the box... I'd be more inclined to say a prop or crown/pinion wheel problem, they are normally first points of failure on the big diff-6 setup Shame you're not local, I have a spare prop, driveshafts and diff from an NA. Not ideal but it'd get you up and running for a bit.

Pig
Here is a video of my diff failure. I thought it was gearbox too. Can you put it into gear without the engine turned on? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XrpptSMTjEA Dont know how to embed
supra steveo
wow mine doesnt sound that bad but it will move this is what happens under mine ......... hope to hell its not the box
Homer
It looks to me like it's got a knock on each rotation of the prop so it doesn't rule out either... Is the prop and all the rubber cushions still intact? No missing bolts of anything? If you leave it out of gear and rotate one of the wheels with the other locked up, can you feel the knock though the wheel? Do you still have my number Steve? Feel free to give me a call and I can talk you though some checks
