Gaz6002
I've merged your threads as there was no reason to create the same one twice, and no reason to bump them immediately.
mark newman
If you are unsure stay away from it . or knock the cost of a new box of the price,
fastcar
To be honest if you can hear a knock coming from the box it might be best to stay away. Do you know what flywheel or cutch it has I.E does it have the stock OEM clutch setup or an aftermarket one? Does it shift ok from 3rd to 4th or is it just making a noise? Guest Mello
its only making the noise when shifting from 3rd to 4th but i didnt ask anything yet about the clutch, he told me it has been replaced

Guest Mello
everything is standard/stock, and it has 110k miles on it as i told u guys he said he changed it but i didnt ask him what clutch he used yet.
Abz
everything is standard/stock, and it has 110k miles on it as i told u guys he said he changed it but i didnt ask him what clutch he used yet. But you didn't state which gearbox it has? As asked by Swampy. Also can you explain the noise is it mechanical clink or a thud? Does it do it every time you shift in 4th no matter how hard or soft. Is the noise coming as you lift off or only when you are shifting into the gear? Could be something very simple or something very expensive so I'd ask the owner if he knows what he thinks it may be? Guest Mello
i dont think the owned would say if it has a bad thing. i dont intend much into supras but its a 1998 supra. (how can i check what box it has ?) I didnt test trive it that much yet but yes it dose it every time sometimes a little sometimes you certainly cant mistake. The noise is something like a clunk yes only happens when shifting into 4th
Abz
If it is a 1998 Twin Turbo then chances are it is a 6 speed box, V161 if it is a facelift, best way to tell is the VIN code which will tell you (unless it has been swapped). The 6 speed box is actually quite clunky as standard, nowhere like modern gearboxes.
