antno
Hello Just wondering where the best place to pic up on to measure caster. I've got access to a long acre camber/caster digi gauge but I don't know if I'm going to need to make a jig so I can get it in exactly the same place every time. I'm not to keen in these lazer alignment jobbies as everyone I've asked has had bad experiences with them. Cheers antno
pedrosixfour
I can't verify this mate, I just found it here (about halfway down the page): http://mkiv.com/techarticles/alignment/index.html "Caster is measured either directly or indirectly. Directly means you use a camber gauge and place it directly on the steering knuckles and measure their rearward inclination. Most people don’t do this as it is very difficult to get a gauge into a wheel well and accurately measure this. The indirect way is by measuring the camber with the wheel turned “x” degrees to the right, then measuring again with “x” degrees to the left, and subtracting the smaller of the two measurements from the larger one." antno
I have actually just been reading that. Next thing will be to measure the degrees the wheel has turnedp
antno
Sorted it now the indirect way. We have angle plates at work so used them. Interesting read though about caster http://www.motoiq.com/magazine_articles/id/1982/the-ultimate-handling-guide-part-8-understanding-your-caster-king-pin-inclination-and-scrub.aspx
