mellonman
You will need a spring compressor really mate £15 ebay, then compress the spring andundo the couple of bolts (nut at the top, bolt at the bottom) then swopshould be easy

chris0132
Fingers crossed its literally just a replacement shock and spring all built up already so just a straight swap over and I've got some replacement drop links to put on
mellonman
sorry yeah if its spring and shock complete will be very easy indeed ,you wont need a spring compressor for that
Rich.2211
You will need a long bar or similar to lever the lower arm down ideally. Also good call on the new front drop links as they round off for fun!
ashbuster
If you have an auto dont leave it in park. Easily done lol

Would a 14 stone person standing on it help lol if not I'm sure I've got a 2 meter bar at home so it'll help Hopefully the drop links undo

ashbuster
3 days i couldnt figure out why i couldnt move the hub enough to put the bolt back in on the rear. called a mate all the way down from wales (mechanic) and even he was stumped but after about half an hour he realized that i left it in park lol just realized this thread is for the front so none of what i said even matters lol Edited June 19, 2013 by ashbuster (see edit history)
trebor69
Drop anti roll bar to save touching your droplinks , undo top wishbone and slide bolt out then after undoing the three top strut mounting bolts and the bottom strut bolt , lever bottom wishbone down (long bar) and wiggle strut out past the top wishbone .....refit in reverse order .....simples
chris0132
Would that be easier then the arb would just be technically what 4 bolts that hold that hold it on then the top wishbone bolts are they easy to undo sort for the questions lol
trebor69
Yeah that way is miles easier than trying to get the droplinks undone , just undo the arb bolts on the side you are doing , the top wishbones come undone easy enough just wire brush the threads and spray with wd40 or similar and leave for ten mins then a couple of decent ring spanners and hey presto ..........I have just done all 4 corners on mine ....on my own

ashbuster
would be a good idea to change the drop links anyway while your at it, not exactly expensive and you know they are new

chris0132
Well i finally sorted it took a whole 4 hours to do so not too bad the main issue we had was....... Yep you guessed the drop links lol ended up grinding the nuts off the top part removing the top wishbone bolt dropping the whole unit down removing the strut then grinding the bottom nut on the drop link then just reversed how I took it apart and hay presto all sorted, here's one of the drop links to show the amount of cutting to get it off lol
