oil catch tank - how to

hi all !

i have looked everywhere I could and found no answer.

-> how to instal the best way a catch can ?

I saw on internet a good can isn't a simple and empty bottle...it does have special interior specs....

After the hard choice of the tank (so many options), how to connect it to the 2 inlets ??

I read there is a PCV system, perssure system, tank with or without breather filters....

:taped: tooooooo many informations for something that may be very simple

thanks for your science :)

Common method is fairly simple. With the stock system the breather goes from the inlet cam cover into the exhaust cam cover and then from the exhaust cam cover into the inlet pipe (just after the filter).

Effectively what you want to do is put a can to collect the vapour between the exhaust cam cover and the inlet pipe (pre-turbo). You can do this by either modifying the connections for larger lines, or you can just use similar diameter lines and modify the catch can connections (if required).

Cam Cover ------------------- Air Intake Pre-turbo (stock)

Cam Cover -----Catch Can---- Air Intake Pre-turbo

Job done.

FWIW I don't really see the point but I guess it looks shiny :)

Thanks :)

yes looks shiny lol

but read somewhere that may be good for engine health...

I saw people doing the following :

cam cover (intake) ------- catch can with breather filter -------- cam cover (exhaust)

so wandering the use of this config....

You can do it that way if you like, there will be no vacuum on the line though (as with the stock setup).

It shouldn't make any difference to engine health, if your engine is healthy you shouldn't need a catch can, it's only oily engines that require them to give the oil vapour somewhere to go other than back into the intake.

The example you describe isn't intake to catch can to exhaust though, it's actually intake AND exhast into intake and rather than having a take off to the intake there is a filter venting to atmosphere.
