Guest micke547
Hi everyone! Bought a wonderful supra TT 6spd 1994 j-spec a few weeks ago, and it seems to have some issues when shifting description of the problem: when shifting it feels like something in the gearbox punches back lightly through the shift-lever. It only occurs from 1st to 2nd,2nd to 3rd and NEVER when downshifting. i feel the "punch" and then the gear goes in smoothly. Other than that it handles like a dream, no nasty noises whatsoever. Seller told me the clutch is changed about 5000kms ago when the rear oilseal was replaced. someone have any ideas?
Ian C
Do you have to put the clutch pedal all the way down to change gear? When was the gearbox fluid last checked/changed? Do you need to replace the shifter bushes?
Guest micke547
Hi I can change gear without pushing the clutch all the way to the floor. the gearbox fluid was changed at the same time the clutch and oilseal was changed at Lexus in Edinburgh. The shifter bushes is already replaced with aluminium ones. i have noticed i the problem dont seem to happen if i do like this when shifting 2nd gear->neutral or keep the clutch down->wait 1 sec->then go into 3rd i just got under the car to have a look, and i noticed there was some play in the propshaft somewhere around the center bearing, maybe that have something to do with it? Guest micke547
To everyone interested, the problem was pretty simple, I removed the propshaft and noticed that the big nut in the middle where the shaft is split was loose. So I greased the splines up, tightened the nut and both the slack and the punch I felt through the gear lever is now gone
