Guest Benny9
Hi All Well on this lovely day i decided to fit all my goodies to keep the car healthy after my recent bpu. New water pump, timing belt, uprated thermostat, adjustable cam pulleys, alloy pulleys, oil/oil filter, coolant. Great days work until my friend who helped do the work decided to check the 1st turbo for me as i said it felt a bit laggy on boost, when we saw this....[sHOCK][/sHOCK] Bugger! [ANGRY][/ANGRY] no wonder it felt like crap:D Anyway, now i'm on the look out for a jspec - 1st turbo if anyone has one ( will post in the wanted section aswell ), was wondering if i could fit a uk spec one instead? any problems with this? cheers. mellonman
You cant fit a uk on a jspec and vice versa but as for that turbo, yes it is very slightly damaged a have seen way way worse and still drive a dream, me myself would say that damage does not warrent replacement imho
mplavery
I think you will find its common for the first turbo to have little damaged with the blades but should still work fine... I would not buy a set of turbos until you have confirmed everything else is ok Edited June 14, 2013 by mplavery (see edit history)

Nic
What air filter do you have fitted?
Guest Benny9
Thanks for the advice guys. I thought it was knackered for sure. We'll have another look over the weekend to check what else could be causing the lagging issue. Cheers.

Guest Benny9
Before the bpu turbo spool seemed to be running fine with the cone filter, would it better to return to stock air box?
TubbyTwo
Hi Nic, I've got one of those cheapy cone filters off ebay, what you thinking? Glue or debris from filter has caused damage. Seen this before on an mr2. Expensive miatake for a £10 filter!!

Guest Benny9
Hi All Hoping someone could shed some light on my turbo problem, haven't driven her much since doing bpu but now I've started using the car again I've noticed a problem. Basically the 1st turbo kicks in fine until 3k but from 3k-4k the car feels completely lifeless and then I get a strong hesitation before the 2nd turbo kicks in? I've checked all vacuum hoses for leaks, recently changed the iacv vsv, checked the decats weren't blowing. is there anything else I should check? I was wondering if the fcd could cause any problems if wired incorrectly? i'm a bit gutted as I've got her looking the way I like now but she's not shifting as she should! any advice appreciated. markssupra
Try checking the 2 large black rubber hoses between the turbos where the pipework runs parralel with the cam cover, there either side of the pipe numbered 14 in this pic They look ok on the outside but close down inside. http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/attachment.php?attachmentid=13946&d=1112559170 You might this useful http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?35926-The-sequential-system Edited June 24, 2013 by markssupra (see edit history)
