Supra OEM sound system question / information

Lo folks

I have a random question to ask about the OEM sounds system on a 93' N/A :innocent:

I've had my Sup for about two months now and after giving my interior a revamp the last job I really want to tackle is replacement of the original speakers.. I have searched the net high and low for speakers sizes on the 93' n/a and I'm unable to find or match the set that are currently in mine.

What I've read so far suggests that the front door speakers are 4" and the rears are 6.5" but I've measured mine and the fronts are 7"(7.5" with from edge of cover across) and the rears are 6" with 2" x 2.5" tweeters in the dash so now I'm fairly confused about what I replace with and whether or not it is an original system in the Sup or not (the speakers are covers with a cloth type cover and certainly look OEM) :wtfsign:

So really my question is, where early N/A's built with uprated sounds systems if so anyone know the exact sizes so I dont have to go building brackets and cutting stuff up :)

Thanks in advance

Sel

The fronts ARE 4" rears are about 6" 6.5" will fit.

Did you take the door card off or just measure the cover?

There was a premium 7 speaker sound system option available, comes as standard on the GZ- models

Oem speakers are all the same size just the enclosures wre different on the rear. with an added sub woofer in the boot.

Bose 101 speakers are a pretty much straight fit in the fronts. If you don't want to make brackets.

I just measured the cover, didn't want to force the covers off just incase I broke them. I don't have a sub in the boot! right gonna go poke at the door speakers will come back shortly!

Thanks Iky

No worries, where in yorkshire are you from?

I think if I remember to get to the speakers in the doors you have to remove the complete door covers not just the grill!!

Yes, DO NOT pull at the front grill, the little clips will break and you will have to mess about gluing it all back on.

Rears are easy, just pull the covers off.

Update for ya!! Thanks for the ebay link they look cool - as to replacing I'm for certain going to have to replace them !

 - Yeah so tried to remove the cover before reading your message Mike :p snapped the bugger in half and still unsure what size although look smaller underneath so counting on them being 4", i'll take the door card off when I get home from work.

Cheers guys

There is a guide on hecklers site InternetWorks on removing door card.

I have just ordered 2 Bose 101 from e bay.

Was fed up with the previous owners efforts to instal 7" speakers screwed to the door card, which keep falling out.

They should arrive in the next couple of days.

If you are prepared to wait I will let you know what they are like.

E bay item 181155639957 £19.99 with £4.99 postage.

Cheers guys! yeah the passenger door speaker grill now sizes in at 7" x 3" and also looks a like its been in a fight - Ideally I would like speakers that have yellow in them to match the interior but not fussed either way since those boss speaks look pretty cool.
