Guest vertex boy
Hi guys had this problem for a while now. Cant get around this. The car is an Aristo with 2jzgte engine. Initially was misfiring on lpg only and now started doing it on both. I have changed all the clips on the coil packs with new ones also changed all the coil packs with brand new ones and today removed cleaned and inspected all the intercooler pipes for cracks etc. All the vacuum hoses been replaced by new ones too. Any ideas ? I feel like pulling my hair out ! This actually started after i had my engine core plugs replaced and the guy took out the exhaust and inlet manifolds to do the work. Was hitting 0.8 bar boost now just about 0.7 bar. Thoughts im having I know he hasnt replaced the exhaust manifold gasket could this have a detrimental affect ?? Potentially exhaust blowing somewhere on the turbo side ?? Turbos on their way out and have damaged fins ?? When i was removing the intercooler piping i saw an oil patch on it! Could this be a boost leak and causing the car to misfire under load and could it be the intercooler is clogged as does look quite battered as when i used to run it on petrol i used to find it was quite juicy on fuel. Any other suggestions ??
mellonman
okay mate i have just had a misfire with mine and in my hunt for it i found that the actual wiring to the coil packs can be brittle and damaged so there might be a good place to have a look, mine was damaged even under the heat sheild stuff
viper
Hi, i dont know if its worth checking the spark plug gaps, as i was getting spark blow out when on boost, so i closed the plug gaps a bit and the problem was solved.
Guest vertex boy
I found that the wiring was brittle but when i changed the clips they came with a piece of wire so i cut each wire at a time and re insulated them with industrial heat shrink cable insulators. They were completely brittle up through the bit where they come up to the cam covers ! Also tried spark plug gap no luck and they were replaced about 5 months ago ! DJT88
I've had something similar. Turned out to be too little fuel. Check this thread: http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=290257
