Graham1984
Didn't Kaan take his aircon out on his build, maybe worth a pm mate.
thomo8568
Not got a guide. But it is easy to do. But you will need a shorter belt. You also have to strip the aircon pump down, as the front of pump is a support for PAS pump. I only removed the stuff from bay as didn't want to remove tha dash. Suprakeith
Is it possible to just remove the air con pipe work and leave the pump fitted for now. Then when get shorter belt take air con pump apart?
thomo8568
Yes you could do it that way. Can't see any reason why not. May probably cut some of the pipes at the front to get them out.
Suprakeith
Thats what was thinking of doing just cutting pipes out and removing them, i take it the PAS system doesnt rely on the air con system just the aircon pump supports the PAS pump
thomo8568
Yes it just supports it.
ashbuster
so you can just strip out the rad from the front and all pipework and leave the pump in place so the belt can still go around it
DodgyRog
I think you will find the shorter belt catchs against the A/C pulley if you don't remove it It's easy enough to do, I did mine, I had issues getting the bracket off the front of my A/C see here This shows the bracket you need to remove here And there is a helpful exploded diagram here of how it should come apart

ashbuster
cant you still run the long belt? with everything removed apart from the pump/pulley? thinking of doing this because my rad has seen better days and i just want all the mess from the front gotten rid of lol Edited June 8, 2013 by ashbuster (see edit history)
Kaan W
Didn't Kaan take his aircon out on his build, maybe worth a pm mate. I sure did mate. Basically just unbolt everything taking the condensater and pump out and then you will need a shorter aux belt, PK 1865 iirc. Job done
Rich.2211
It's an easy enough job to do. If you need any help fire me a pm as I've just deleted the air con on my NA

scott87
Out if interest is there any benefit of removing the aircon? Or is it just for weight?
Rich.2211
Out if interest is there any benefit of removing the aircon? Or is it just for weight? One less ancillary for the engine to turn. Probably next to no real world difference but I've removed it to keep the bay that bit tidier and on the basis of every little bit helps (horsepower and weight). Suprakeith
Thats the main reason i want to remove it all just to tidy up engine bay, plus in the two years of having supra have never used the air con
T14PPA
I removed it to free some space behind rad and it frees up space on engine
DodgyRog
I took mine out because the pump was squeaking and I never use it anyway One advantage to taking the pump out totally is the much easier access to the Oil Filter from underneath, makes Oil Changes a piece of cake

Any chance you have the bits still and want a new home for them?
Rich.2211
Any chance you have the bits still and want a new home for them? The air con pump has been stripped so I could reuse the bracket and I have promised the condenser to Girth45. The rest isn't worth keeping as I had to bend the pipes a little to remove them, they're only good for scrap now really.

Ive got a leak somewhere, but i assume its the condensor rather than the piping. Will have to hope someone else has a condensor that needs a new home
