Rummy
Hi all Just took the Supe (BL T67 dbb single) for a spin then just as it came into boost, the car jolted as if starved of fuel and the BOV (HKS SSQ) no longer flutters but makes a horrible dull droning noise. There is also no boost pressure readings on either of my gauges (greddy analogue and Blitz SBC ID3). I checked the lines going into the boost control box and BOV and all are ok. I took the control box inlet hose off and blew in it whilst recording on the Blitz. It registered a little pressure each time on the recording so am I right in assuming the problem is in the BOV (valve stuck?) as it's no longer releasing pressure to the control box? It just sounds like it's releasing through the intake... Cheers Mike
Nic
I presume you've checked if an intercooler hose has blown off or split?
listy
I'd be checking IC hoses as Nic says, and all the vacuum hoses, making sure none are split or popped off.
Rummy
Had a quick look whilst I was in there earlier seemed secure. It looks like I'm gonna have to have the nose cone off tomorrow for a more thorough check. Cheers guys Edited June 1, 2013 by Rummy kudos (see edit history)
Gpro
a quick note check the hose that connects the turbo to the intercooler piping. I have seen it melt a hole in it before as its so close to the manifold.
Rummy
Right, had a look at the hoses and they're all still connected with no splits present. I've checked the clamps too. I guess the next step is a pressure test. As said in my OP could the BOV be at fault stuck open? The only reason I say this is when I come off throttle it no longer flutters but makes a dull continuous noise similar to a kazoo! Or perhaps the Blitz solenoid box? Swampy442
Disconnect the bov hose, blank it off and see what happens
Nic
Another easy thing to check would be to remove the intake pipe and check the compressor wheel and make sure it is turning freely.
Rummy
Another easy thing to check would be to remove the intake pipe and check the compressor wheel and make sure it is turning freely. That was my next thing on the list. It turned fine by hand but Will check with motor running next.
Rummy
I should have mentioned also that there is no negative boost either. The gauges sit at 0. so I'm going to have a good rummage and line trace later. Edited June 3, 2013 by Rummy (see edit history)
Rummy
Well, further investigation by peeling back the insulation revealed this: Intake vac hose split. Now clipped and re-attached and all's well!
