Andrew`s Single turbo 6 speed V161 Build

I think Chris' SMIC should easily be good for 600 bhp.

Iirc, Bignum was running a SMIC on his old 67mm turbo ; even beating it though the Nurgburgring was fine.

That's good to hear :)

I don't want anything over 600bhp for now but once done and driven for a while it will probably change! But If I can get too that figure or as close to it as possible I'll be well chuffed.

Bit of progress done on the supra this weekend just gone, it`s not much to do with the turbo / manual conversion side of things but has been something i`ve been wanting to do for a while now. It`s the part behind the front bumper in between the two front chassis legs and just in front of the air con rad, it`s not rusty in a bad way which i`m happy about but there are 4 captive nuts that have seen better days! they hold on the part of the active spoiler under tray & part of the engine under tray. Took it to my mate`s garage and stripped the front end down then he ground away the old rusty nuts and welded some new ones on :) after that had been done i then treated it with some rust prevention stuff and gave it a few coats of paint, once that was dry i coated the hole area with wax oil.

Once everything was nice and dry i started putting it back together and replacing any rusty old fixings / bolts with nice new ones :)

Looks great, Black Supras :love::love:

Nice little bits that I've read through going to be a great Supra cant wait to see the end result. Are you going to the summer meet?

Thanks :)

Looking forward to seeing the end result myself, would like to start going to a few more meets once my cars done as have missed quiet a few the last year or so :( which summer meet are you on about?

mkivsupra.net Summer Meet Saturday 11th July 2015 at Wroxall Abbey in Warwickshire, this must be the one your on about (sorry me being a bit thick!) would need to see how I get on with the build first once it's started then go from there.

Excellent project mate will be good to see this finished.

Thank you for posting pictures of the part numbers also, I'm converting my na to tt using an auto loom and had no idea I could get the correct gearbox plug. Ill order one rather than bodging something together.

Thanks mate :)

Glad you found some of the info in my project thread useful and it helps you with yours.

Not much of an update but got a few more things done at the weekend, the gearbox wasn`t in to bad of a condition visually but still decided to give it a good clean as best i could :) this is what it was like before i started.

These are the pictures after it was cleaned, it`s a little bit better but not 100% clean but i`m happy with it. I also fitted some new OEM dust / protector boots at the bottom of the shifter cradle and the TRD gearbox mount.

Got a little bit more done over the weekend :) I decided to paint the back half of my Lexan spark plug cover so it matched the cambelt covers, That's the engine side of things done now so it's ready for Lee and the team to fit which will be next week. :D

Been waiting a while for this day to come but finally had the news i`ve been waiting for :) so started packing all the bits for my build into my dad`s van.

attachment.php?attachmentid=201683&stc=1&d=1432502155

Had a crazy silly thought while the engine was sat in the back of the van! how cool would it be having a running engine like this mounted and powering a van like this from the rear :eyebrows:

Once all the parts were packed we took the drive down to SRD and dropped it all off along with my supra, it`s now in Lee`s hands to do the hard / finishing touches to get this all fitted and working once he`s finished the projects that are being worked on at the moment.

I know my supra`s nothing compared to some builds that Lee`s done but i`m still a little nervous & excited at the same time as it`s still my pride and joy. :)

i asked Lee to go over what i had done on the engine just to make sure i hadn`t done anything wrong! block and head wise is fine as its the one Lee built for Jamesy`s car so didn`t need splitting, he also started putting sensors and gaskets on etc, fitted the fuel rail, the engine loom and put a coating on my manifold.
